Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Robotics
Align your credentials to TN-eligible categories
Robotics roles don't have a dedicated TN category. You'll need to map your position to Engineer or Computer Systems Analyst based on your degree field and job duties. A mismatch between your credential and the listed category is the most common TN denial trigger.
Target employers with recent visa filing histories
Search for employers with recent visa filings in robotics and automation roles. Employers experienced with visa sponsorship processes tend to move faster and handle work visa applications more smoothly. Since TN sponsorship requires an employer support letter presented at the U.S. border or consulate, working with companies that understand visa requirements can streamline your application process.
Prepare a detailed offer letter before the border
Canadian citizens present TN documentation at the port of entry, so your employer's offer letter must specify your job title, TN category, duties, wage, and employment start date. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, so gaps in the letter create immediate problems.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-ready roles
Search Migrate Mate to find Robotics positions from employers with recent visa filings who understand work visa sponsorship. Filtering by employer sponsorship experience upfront saves weeks of outreach to companies unfamiliar with USMCA work authorization requirements.
Confirm your employer will complete E-Verify enrollment
Some robotics employers, particularly smaller automation startups, aren't enrolled in E-Verify. Federal contractors and STEM OPT employers are legally required to participate, but TN sponsors generally are not. Confirm enrollment status before accepting an offer to avoid onboarding delays.
Request a three-year status period from the start
TN status can be granted for up to three years per admission. Always have your employer's letter specify a three-year employment period rather than the contract term, which is often shorter. Requesting less time forces an earlier renewal filing and additional employer involvement.

Find Robotics JobsRobotics TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Robotics job qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but only if the role maps to an approved TN category. Most Robotics positions qualify under Engineer (for hardware-focused roles such as mechanical or electrical robotics engineering) or Computer Systems Analyst (for software, controls, or AI-driven automation work). Your degree must match the category your employer lists in the offer letter. CBP makes the final determination at the port of entry or during consular processing.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Robotics compare to H-1B?
For Robotics professionals, TN has significant structural advantages over H-1B. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and approval can happen the same day at a port of entry for Canadian citizens. H-1B requires a petition filed months in advance with USCIS, and most applicants aren't selected. TN doesn't offer a path to permanent residence, but for Canadians and Mexicans in robotics roles, it's a faster and more predictable route to U.S. employment.
Can a Mexican citizen use TN status for Robotics work?
Yes. Mexican citizens qualify for TN status under the same USMCA occupational categories as Canadians but must apply through a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. The process involves submitting a visa application, attending an interview, and receiving a TN visa stamp before traveling to the U.S. The qualifying categories, degree requirements, and employer obligations are otherwise the same as for Canadian applicants.
Where can I find Robotics employers that sponsor TN visas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface TN visa sponsorship jobs, including Robotics positions in automation, controls engineering, and robotics software development. Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, which means you waste time on roles where the employer has no experience with USMCA work authorization. Migrate Mate focuses that search from the start.
What happens if my Robotics job title doesn't match a TN category exactly?
CBP officers evaluate the substance of the role, not just the title. If your offer letter says 'Robotics Engineer' but your duties are split between mechanical design and Python-based motion planning, the officer may question which TN category applies. Your employer should draft the offer letter to emphasize the duties that align with one specific category, supported by your degree in that field. Ambiguous letters get scrutinized or denied at the port of entry.
