Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Security Architect
Align your credentials to TN-qualifying categories
Security Architect roles qualify under engineer or computer systems analyst classifications. Make sure your degree is in computer science, engineering, or a directly related field before applying, because CBP officers evaluate credential-to-role fit at the port of entry.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with recent visa filings for security or architecture roles. Employers already experienced with visa sponsorship processes are far less likely to delay your start date over paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready employers
Searching broadly across generic job boards wastes time on roles where sponsorship is never offered. Migrate Mate filters Security Architect openings specifically by TN visa sponsorship, connecting you directly with employers who have confirmed they'll support the filing.
Prepare a credential package before outreach
Your degree transcript, any professional certifications like CISSP or CISM, and a one-page employment letter outlining your role and salary should be ready before you contact employers, not after you receive an offer.
Get the employment letter language right
CBP requires your offer letter to specify your job title, duties, qualifying credentials, and that the role is temporary in nature. Generic offer letters missing any of these details are a common reason Canadian professionals face delays or secondary inspection at the border.
Plan around Mexican nationals' consular processing requirements
Unlike Canadians, Mexican nationals cannot obtain TN status at the port of entry and must attend a U.S. consular interview. Schedule your appointment at a U.S. consulate in Mexico after your employer provides you with a support letter, and budget several weeks for this step.
Security Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Security Architect role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Security Architect positions typically qualify under either the engineer or computer systems analyst USMCA categories, depending on how the role is defined. Your duties must center on designing and implementing security systems or architecture. If the role blends broad IT management with architecture work, your employer's offer letter should emphasize the technical engineering functions to satisfy CBP's evaluation criteria.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Security Architects?
TN has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start working as soon as CBP approves your application at the port of entry. H-1B visa requires surviving a lottery with roughly 25% selection odds before the petition is even reviewed. For Mexicans, TN still requires consular processing but bypasses the lottery entirely, making it a faster and more predictable path for qualified Security Architects.
What documents does a Security Architect need for TN approval?
You'll need a valid Canadian or Mexican passport, a detailed employer offer letter stating your job title, specific duties, and that the position is prearranged and temporary, plus evidence of your qualifying degree. Certifications like CISSP or CISM strengthen your file but don't replace the degree requirement. Canadian citizens present these directly to a CBP officer at the border, while Mexican nationals submit them at a U.S. consulate.
Where can I find Security Architect jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, which means you spend hours applying to roles that won't sponsor. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals and lets you search Security Architect openings by TN visa sponsorship status, so every result you see is from an employer who has confirmed they'll support the process.
Can a Security Architect on TN status change employers?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization from your new employer before you start working for them. Canadian citizens can obtain this at a port of entry with a new offer letter and supporting documents. There's no formal transfer process the way H-1B has portability under AC21, so the timing of your resignation and new start date matters. Leaving one employer before securing new TN status creates an authorization gap.
