About CCU
Colorado Christian University is the premier interdenominational Christian university in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region, delivering world class education to thousands of students. The fully accredited, nonprofit University is located in Lakewood, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.
Colorado Christian University was founded in 1914. CCU’s motto is grace and truth. This motto comes from John 1:14: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (ESV)
CCU's mission is Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth.
Colorado Christian University cultivates knowledge and love of God in a Christ-centered community of learners and scholars, with an enduring commitment to the integration of exemplary academics, spiritual formation, and engagement with the world. We envision graduates who think critically and creatively, lead with high ethical and professional standards, embody the character and compassion of Jesus Christ, treasure the gospel, and who thereby are prepared to impact the world in their callings.
CCU embraces an educational model that was present at the foundation of many of the great western and American universities. It is made up of three pillars—competence, character and Christ-centered faith. Secular universities have abandoned two of those pillars. We think this is a major oversight that eventually undermines education. Furthermore, we believe this classical educational model is both life-giving and greatly needed in our time.
A leader in higher education, CCU has been consistently ranked in the top 2 percent of colleges and universities nationwide for its core curriculum by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni. CCU has had ten consecutive years of enrollment growth and has been named one of the five fastest-growing master’s granting universities by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
CCU offers more than 200 degree program options for traditional and adult students through its two colleges—the College of Undergraduate Studies and College of Adult and Graduate Studies. More than 8,000 students attend the University on the main campus, in regional centers throughout Colorado, and online.

- Live out your calling: We are a traditional evangelical university where you can invest your God-given talents and abilities alongside coworkers and teammates, while having a profound influence on students as they deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Training And Development Specialist
Align your credential to the TN category
The TN category for this role typically requires a bachelor's degree in education, human resources, or a closely related field. A mismatch between your credential and the job description is the most common reason CBP pushes back at the border.
Target employers with dedicated L&D teams
Larger organizations with standalone learning and development functions are far more likely to have HR teams familiar with TN sponsorship paperwork. Focus your search on companies in healthcare, finance, and technology where formal training programs are standard.
Request a detailed job offer letter early
CBP requires your offer letter to describe the role's training and development duties specifically, not just your job title. Ask your employer to spell out instructional design, curriculum development, or facilitation responsibilities so the specialty occupation connection is clear.
Understand the Canadian versus Mexican filing difference
As a Canadian, you can present your TN application at any land port of entry or preclearance airport without advance USCIS filing. Mexican nationals must file a petition with USCIS and attend a consular interview, so build extra lead time into your start date negotiation.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already sponsoring TN visas
Search Migrate Mate to identify Training and Development Specialist openings at employers with recent visa filings. Leading with companies already experienced in sponsoring work visas shortens negotiation time and reduces the risk of a withdrawn offer once legal costs come up.
Clarify who prepares the employer support letter
TN visa applications do not require an employer to file with the Department of Labor, unlike H-1B visas. Knowing this lets you correct employers who assume TN processing mirrors H-1B, preventing unnecessary delays caused by misfiled or over-engineered legal workflows. For Canadians, the process is straightforward: your employer writes a support letter, and you present it at the U.S. port of entry. For Mexicans, your employer prepares the same support letter, and you apply at a U.S. consulate. This simplified process means faster approvals when employers understand TN's direct pathway.

Find Training And Development Specialist JobsTraining And Development Specialist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Training and Development Specialist role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, provided your employer's job duties map clearly to training design, delivery, or organizational learning functions and you hold a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as education, human resources, or instructional design. CBP officers evaluate the substance of the role, not just the title, so your offer letter needs to describe specific professional-level duties.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Training and Development Specialist roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be processed at the border the same day, while H-1B requires a lottery registration, a cap slot, and a filing timeline that can take six months or more. For a qualifying Training and Development Specialist role, TN is generally faster to obtain and easier to renew, since extensions are indefinite provided you maintain a valid job offer.
Can I use Migrate Mate to find Training and Development Specialist jobs with TN sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN-eligible roles in the United States. Searching there surfaces Training and Development Specialist openings at employers already familiar with TN sponsorship, which makes initial conversations with recruiters and HR teams significantly more productive than cold applications to employers who have never encountered the visa category.
What documents do I need before my Canadian border TN application as a Training and Development Specialist?
You'll need a detailed job offer letter describing your training and development duties, your degree certificates or official transcripts showing a qualifying credential, and your Canadian passport. If your degree is in a tangential field, a credential evaluation or employer letter explaining the connection between your education and the role strengthens the application considerably.
Does my Mexican credential qualify if my degree is not from a U.S. institution?
Yes. CBP and USCIS accept degrees earned outside the United States, including Mexican institutions, provided the credential is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A foreign credential evaluation from a recognized evaluation service can confirm equivalency and is strongly advisable when your degree title or field name does not translate directly into standard U.S. terminology.
