How do I get a travel consultant job in Washington?
Focus on employers tied to Washington's dominant demand drivers: federal agencies and their contractors, trade associations, international organizations, and embassy-affiliated clients. Jobs concentrate in Downtown DC, the K Street corridor, and Crystal City. Candidates who demonstrate experience managing complex itineraries, group travel, or government travel policies stand out here. Familiarity with GDS platforms and corporate travel management tools gives you a real edge over generalists.
Which companies hire travel consultants in Washington?

Washington's employer mix skews heavily toward corporate travel management firms, federal contractors with travel program needs, and full-service agencies serving the association and diplomatic community.
Are there remote travel consultant jobs in Washington?
Yes, though remote availability depends on the role: desk-based booking and account management positions are the most remote-friendly, while roles tied to on-site government travel programs or VIP client services typically require in-person presence. About 57% of travel consultant openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the strongest remote options at corporate travel management companies serving distributed federal clients.
How can I get a travel consultant job in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Washington is through corporate travel management companies that staff government and contractor accounts, where coordinators and booking agents handle high-volume itineraries and can advance quickly. Look for travel coordinator, travel operations assistant, or reservation agent roles with firms holding federal travel contracts. Customer service experience, GDS training certificates, and familiarity with government travel regulations like the Federal Travel Regulation make early-career candidates competitive here.
Which industries hire the most travel consultants in Washington?
Most travel consultant openings in Washington sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Accounting & Auditing, and Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
