Travel Consultant Jobs in Montana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel consultant in Montana?
Montana does not require a state-issued license to work as a travel consultant, so the path runs through industry credentials and employer expectations. Most agencies in Billings, Missoula, and Bozeman expect candidates to hold or pursue a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) designation through The Travel Institute, which requires coursework and a written exam. A background in hospitality, business, or geography strengthens applications, and hands-on GDS platform training is consistently valued across Montana listings.
Which companies hire travel consultants in Montana?
Companies currently hiring travel consultants in Montana include Voyage Health, American Traveler, and Healthforce, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Montana's mix of leisure tourism agencies, corporate travel desks tied to healthcare and energy sectors, and adventure-focused outfitters means openings appear across both traditional agencies and non-traditional employer types.
Which Montana cities have the most travel consultant jobs?
Bozeman, Havre, and Billings hold the most travel consultant openings in Montana. Billings leads as the state's largest commercial center with the densest concentration of corporate travel accounts, while Missoula's university population and growing tech sector generate both leisure and group travel demand, and Bozeman's rapid growth has brought an expanding base of corporate headquarters and affluent leisure travelers that sustain agency hiring year-round.
Are there remote travel consultant jobs in Montana?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, since most travel consultation happens by phone, video, and digital booking tools rather than in person. About 0% of travel consultant openings tied to Montana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed work. Leisure and independent consulting roles tend to be the most fully remote, while corporate and group travel coordinator positions more often require some in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a travel consultant in Montana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a front-line customer service or reservations role at a Montana hotel, airline desk, or tourism outfitter, which builds the destination knowledge and booking system familiarity that agencies look for. AAA Montana regularly brings on associate travel agents and trains them on GDS platforms from the ground up. Pursuing the Certified Travel Associate coursework through The Travel Institute while applying signals commitment and accelerates hiring, even without prior agency experience.
Where can I find and apply to travel consultant jobs in Montana?
You can find and apply to travel consultant jobs in Montana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Montana openings from agencies, corporate travel desks, and tourism employers across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to the employers posting them.
