INTRODUCTION
Join the UAF Facilities Services Design & Construction team and gain hands-on experience with real-world engineering and architectural projects. This part-time position during the academic year (and full-time in summer) offers flexible scheduling to accommodate summer classes. We welcome current UAF students and recent high school graduates accepted to UAF who are pursuing a degree in engineering or construction management. To thrive in this position, students should be passionate about the built environment, whether roads, buildings, infrastructure, and associated systems. DDC manages various studies and design activities, master planning, and construction from installing a door to building complex power plants. Every project and every day can be different. Students who thrive on variety and have the drive to improve the student experience at UAF will excel in this role. The student intern position has been a springboard to highly success entry into the engineering job market.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- No formal certification is required.
- Students should be enrolled in a UAF engineering program or show an interest in engineering from previous experience or other education.
- Experience with AutoCAD preferred, but not required.
- This position may require driving. A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.
- COLLEGE STUDENTS: Must be enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management program at UAF. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the current semester year of applying, or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and GPA must be 2.0 or better.
- HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES (current year of applying to this position): Must have an interest in an engineering field. Must have applied and been accepted to UAF. Must have a GPA of 2.0 or better.
- Data entry, basic computer skills, willingness to show up to work on time and be a reliable asset to the department.
POSITION DETAILS
This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only. Starting salary - $16.85 with opportunity for advancement. This is a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed. Submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer.
