Which companies in Arizona sponsor visas for data scientists?
Intel, Honeywell, Banner Health, American Express (which has a significant Scottsdale presence), and PayPal have all filed Labor Condition Applications for data scientist roles in Arizona. Large healthcare systems and financial services firms in the Phoenix metro are among the more consistent sponsors, given their scale and established HR infrastructure for managing international hires.
Which visa types are most common for data scientist roles in Arizona?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for data scientists in Arizona, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as statistics, computer science, or mathematics. Some applicants also enter on OPT or STEM OPT before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the mathematician or computer systems analyst categories, depending on the specific role.
Which cities in Arizona have the most data scientist visa sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and Scottsdale account for the majority of data scientist sponsorship activity in Arizona. Tempe is also notable given its proximity to Arizona State University and a concentration of fintech and analytics firms. Chandler has a smaller but active tech presence driven by Intel's campus. Tucson sees some activity through the University of Arizona and affiliated research organizations, though volume is lower than the Phoenix metro.
How to find data scientist visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse data scientist roles in Arizona without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role to surface active openings from employers who have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates, which saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship case by case.
Are there any Arizona-specific factors data scientists should know before pursuing sponsorship?
Arizona's Department of Economic Security and the Phoenix metro's status as a growing technology hub have attracted large employer campuses, which tend to have more established immigration support than startups. Arizona State University's graduate programs in data science and analytics create a steady pipeline of OPT candidates, meaning employers in the area are often familiar with the sponsorship process. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide and are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific role and location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data scientist jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
