Which companies sponsor visas for developers in Arkansas?
Walmart Global Tech in Bentonville is the most prominent Arkansas-based sponsor for developer roles, filing a significant volume of H-1B visa petitions annually. Dillard's technology division in Little Rock, Windstream Communications, and Acxiom also have histories of sponsoring software developers. Staffing and consulting firms with Arkansas operations occasionally sponsor developers placed with these enterprise clients as well.
Which visa types are most common for developer roles in Arkansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for developer roles in Arkansas, as software development consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field. Developers with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is often faster to obtain than the H-1B.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most developer sponsorship jobs?
Bentonville leads due to Walmart Global Tech's headquarters and its surrounding supplier and retail-tech ecosystem. Little Rock follows as the state capital and largest city, home to financial services firms, government contractors, and healthcare technology companies that hire developers. Fayetteville benefits from proximity to the University of Arkansas and a growing startup community that occasionally sponsors international talent.
How to find developer visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter by state and role to find developer positions in Arkansas from employers with demonstrated sponsorship histories. This avoids manually screening hundreds of postings from companies unlikely to sponsor, which is one of the most time-consuming parts of the international job search.
Are there any state-specific factors that affect developer sponsorship in Arkansas?
Arkansas is not a high-cost technology hub, so prevailing wage requirements for developer roles are generally lower than in states like California or New York. This can make sponsorship more financially accessible for smaller employers. The University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University produce computer science graduates, creating established pipelines that some employers use when recruiting internationally trained developers into entry and mid-level roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored developer jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
