The Associate Full Stack Developer supports the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of web applications, digital experience platforms, and related web services that support Villanova University’s digital ecosystem. This role contributes across the software development lifecycle while building foundational capability in front-end and back-end development, integrations, cloud-based delivery, deployments, troubleshooting, release support, and platform operations. Under guidance, the Associate Full Stack Developer assists with implementing and supporting scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions aligned with University standards.
Work may include support for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), including AEM as a Cloud Service and AEM Edge Delivery Services; the University website; the University mobile app built on Modo Labs; the University Web Portal built on OneCampus; APIs; analytics and tagging tools; and other related digital services.
This position contributes to the reliable operation and continuous improvement of the University’s web and mobile services environment while developing technical depth and practical experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Development & Application Support
- Develop, test, debug, and enhance web application features, components, templates, and related functionality across front-end and back-end technologies.
- Maintain and update existing applications and digital platform functionality within established architectures, standards, and development patterns.
- Support assigned development tasks from requirements through implementation while building proficiency in coding standards, testing practices, and reusable approaches.
Feature Integration & Technical Implementation
- Implement and support defined integrations, API connections, and data exchanges under established patterns and guidance from senior team members.
- Assist with validating, troubleshooting, and refining application behavior related to connected systems and platform features.
- Contribute to technical implementation tasks that support consistent functionality across applications, services, and digital platforms.
Application Maintenance & Issue Resolution
- Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of applications and digital platform functionality in development, testing, and production environments.
- Investigate and resolve assigned defects, configuration issues, and user-reported problems with guidance from senior team members when needed.
- Apply established security, accessibility, performance, and quality practices while helping maintain stable and effective digital services.
Team Collaboration & Delivery Support
- Work with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to support requirements clarification, implementation tasks, testing, and delivery of application enhancements.
- Collaborate across teams supporting web, mobile, and portal services to complete assigned work effectively and build technical depth through practical experience.
Quality, Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to testing, documentation, validation, and knowledge sharing activities that support reliable delivery and maintainable applications.
- Follow established development standards, reusable approaches, and team practices while continuing to build proficiency with development tools, automation, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry certifications (such as AEM and Java) plus relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Work Experience
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience. Internships, academic projects, personal projects, or technical training that demonstrate foundational web development capability are helpful.
- Exposure to developing, testing, debugging, or maintaining web applications, websites, or digital platform functionality is beneficial.
- Exposure to front-end and back-end development in a collaborative software delivery environment is beneficial.

- Ability to learn how to translate defined requirements into components, pages, features, or functional application updates.
- Awareness of accessibility, usability, maintainability, SEO, web performance optimization, and general content management system concepts.
- General awareness of APIs, version control, cloud-based web delivery, and common integration patterns.

Preferred Qualifications:
Formal Education
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Work Experience
- Experience working within higher education.
- Hands-on experience in web development, enterprise website support, content management systems, or digital platform implementation is preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), especially AEM as a Cloud Service, including components, templates, content fragments, and content publishing practices, is preferred.
- Experience with AEM Edge Delivery Services (EDS), React, or other modern front-end development tools and component-based development patterns is preferred.
- Experience developing, supporting, or configuring mobile app or portal platforms such as Modo Labs or OneCampus is preferred.
- Experience with APIs, analytics or tagging tools, technical documentation, and accessibility best practices in web development is preferred.
Work Skills
- Preferred ability to use AI coding assistants and related development tools effectively and responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining code quality, testing rigor, and secure development practices.
- Interest in or exposure to emerging AI technologies, including AI agent development, workflow integrations, and related tooling.
Specific Job Knowledge
- Preferred knowledge of SEO, web performance, maintainable web development practices, and analytics or tagging concepts.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and related analytics or tagging tools is preferred.
