Which companies sponsor visas for developers in Colorado?
Large employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for developers in Colorado include Palantir Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Arrow Electronics, DXC Technology, and Oracle. Denver's growing startup scene also produces sponsoring employers, though smaller companies sponsor less frequently than established enterprises. Checking DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data shows which specific employers have filed for developer roles in the state.
Which visa types are most common for developer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa category for developer roles in Colorado, as software development and engineering positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Developers from Canada or Mexico may also qualify for TN status under the USMCA. Those with extraordinary ability or prior multinational employment may explore O-1 or L-1 visas respectively.
Which cities in Colorado have the most developer sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of developer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of tech companies, consulting firms, and corporate headquarters. Boulder follows closely, anchored by a strong startup ecosystem and proximity to the University of Colorado. Colorado Springs is a notable third hub, particularly for developers in defense, cybersecurity, and aerospace given its proximity to military installations and defense contractors.
How to find developer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters developer jobs in Colorado specifically to roles where employers have a history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. You can browse current openings across Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs, filtering by developer specialization. This is especially useful for candidates on OPT or waiting on H-1B approval who need to identify willing sponsors quickly.
Are there any Colorado-specific factors developers should know when pursuing visa sponsorship?
Colorado's Department of Labor and Employment enforces prevailing wage standards independently, and employers must meet both federal DOL and state wage requirements when sponsoring H-1B workers. Colorado's strong university pipeline, including the University of Colorado system and Colorado State University, means employers are familiar with sponsoring recent graduates. Defense and aerospace roles may require security clearances, which can complicate or delay sponsorship timelines for some international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored developer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
