Which companies in Arizona sponsor visas for developer roles?
Intel's Chandler campuses, Microchip Technology in Chandler and Tempe, Honeywell, and Banner Health are among the larger Arizona employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for developer roles. Financial technology companies based in Scottsdale and Phoenix, including Global Payments and Voya Financial, also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA filings for software development positions.
Which visa types are most common for developers sponsored in Arizona?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for developer roles in Arizona, covering software engineers, front-end and back-end developers, and embedded systems engineers. Developers with a master's degree from a U.S. university may benefit from the advanced degree exemption in the H-1B lottery. L-1B visas are also used when a developer transfers from a foreign affiliate of a multinational employer with Arizona operations.
How to find developer visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search developer roles in Arizona without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. You can filter by city, role type, and sponsorship status to focus on Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Tempe, where developer sponsorship activity is highest. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer sponsorship history to help you prioritize applications.
Which Arizona cities have the most developer visa sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix has the highest concentration of developer sponsorship opportunities, followed by Scottsdale, Tempe, and Chandler. Chandler is notable for semiconductor and embedded software roles tied to Intel and Microchip Technology. Scottsdale attracts fintech and SaaS employers. Tempe benefits from proximity to Arizona State University, which generates a steady pipeline of technical talent and draws employers who sponsor OPT-to-H-1B transitions.
Are there any Arizona-specific factors developers should know about visa sponsorship?
Arizona's semiconductor industry, anchored by TSMC's new fabrication plants in Phoenix and Intel's longstanding Chandler presence, has increased demand for hardware and embedded software developers specifically. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles apply at the metropolitan statistical area level, so wage determinations for Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale differ from those in smaller Arizona cities. Arizona State University's large computer science program also means some employers in the region have established OPT and CPT hiring pipelines that can lead to sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored developer jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
