Which companies sponsor visas for electrical project engineers in Colorado?
Xcel Energy, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Intelligence and Space, Black and Veatch, and Burns and McDonnell have all appeared in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for electrical engineering roles in Colorado. Utility and defense contractors tend to file the most petitions, but renewable energy developers and engineering consultancies in the Denver metro have also sponsored H-1B workers for project engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for electrical project engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for electrical project engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. TN visa status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA. Engineers already holding an L-1 visa through a multinational employer or an O-1 visa based on extraordinary ability may also find relevant opportunities in the state.
Which cities in Colorado have the most electrical project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver and its suburbs, including Aurora, Englewood, and Greenwood Village, account for the largest share of electrical project engineer postings, anchored by corporate headquarters and defense facilities. Colorado Springs has a significant concentration driven by military installations and aerospace contractors. Fort Collins attracts engineering talent through proximity to Colorado State University and its growing clean energy and semiconductor sectors.
How to find electrical project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, so you can search electrical project engineer positions in Colorado without sorting through postings that exclude international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from utilities, defense contractors, and engineering firms across the Denver metro, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins, which are the three main hiring hubs for this role in the state.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for electrical project engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Colorado follows federal prevailing wage requirements, meaning employers must pay H-1B workers the higher of the actual or prevailing wage for the specific location and job classification. Denver and Boulder metro areas have higher prevailing wage determinations than rural counties, which affects where employers are most likely to sponsor. Colorado State University and the University of Colorado also produce a pipeline of electrical engineering graduates, and some employers who recruit domestically from those programs also sponsor international hires for project engineer roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical project engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
