Which companies sponsor visas for electrical project engineers in Kansas?
Wichita-based aerospace manufacturers including Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation have sponsored electrical engineering roles, as have utility companies like Evergy and engineering consultancies such as Burns & McDonnell, which maintains a significant Kansas presence. Industrial manufacturers in the Kansas City metro area, including those in food processing and energy infrastructure, also appear regularly in Department of Labor Labor Condition Application filings for electrical project engineer positions.
Which visa types are most common for electrical project engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for electrical project engineers in Kansas, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may pursue TN status under the USMCA engineer category. Nationals of countries with E-3 or H-1B1 treaty provisions may also have pathways, depending on citizenship and employer eligibility.
Which cities in Kansas have the most electrical project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wichita generates the largest share of electrical project engineer sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by its aerospace, defense, and utility sectors. The Kansas City metro area, straddling the Kansas-Missouri border, adds significant volume from engineering consultancies, municipal utilities, and industrial manufacturers based in Overland Park and Lenexa. Topeka, as the state capital, sees some sponsorship activity tied to state infrastructure projects and utility operations.
How to find electrical project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse electrical project engineer openings in Kansas without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces positions from aerospace, utility, and industrial employers across Wichita and the Kansas City metro. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate lets you focus on verified sponsoring employers rather than spending time on applications unlikely to lead to a visa.
Are there state-specific considerations for electrical project engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas employers filing H-1B Labor Condition Applications must pay the prevailing wage for the specific metropolitan statistical area where work is performed, so Wichita and Kansas City metro roles may carry different wage benchmarks. Kansas State University and the University of Kansas produce electrical engineering graduates who sometimes transition into OPT and then employer-sponsored status with regional employers. The state's concentration in aerospace under FAA oversight means some roles involve security clearance requirements, which can complicate international hiring for certain positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical project engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
