Which companies sponsor visas for electrical project engineers in Massachusetts?
Several large employers in Massachusetts have established track records of sponsoring electrical project engineers. Eversource Energy and National Grid regularly hire for power delivery and grid modernization roles. Defense and aerospace firms like Raytheon Technologies and L3Harris sponsor engineers for complex systems projects. Engineering consultancies such as Jacobs, AECOM, and WSP also file H-1B visa petitions for qualified electrical project engineers across the state.
Which visa types are most common for electrical project engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for electrical project engineers in Massachusetts, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa. Those with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa category, which lists engineers among its eligible professions.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most electrical project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and its surrounding metro area, including Cambridge and Waltham, account for the largest share of electrical project engineer postings in Massachusetts, driven by large utilities, defense contractors, and commercial developers. Worcester is a secondary hub with manufacturing and municipal infrastructure projects. Springfield and the Pioneer Valley region also generate demand, particularly in energy transmission and distribution work.
How to find electrical project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse electrical project engineer openings in Massachusetts without sifting through roles that do not sponsor. You can search by role and state to see which Massachusetts employers are actively hiring and willing to support the H-1B or other work visa categories for electrical project engineers.
Are there state-specific considerations for electrical project engineers seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts enforces prevailing wage requirements tied to H-1B filings, and the Department of Labor's wage determinations for electrical engineering roles in the Boston metro area reflect the region's high cost of living. The state's significant investment in offshore wind, grid modernization, and clean energy through programs administered by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center has expanded the pipeline of sponsored engineering positions in recent years.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical project engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
