Which companies sponsor visas for engineering technicians in Colorado?
Aerospace and defense contractors are the most active sponsors, including Lockheed Martin in Littleton, Raytheon Technologies in Aurora, and Ball Aerospace in Boulder. Federal contractors in Colorado Springs also hire engineering technicians with sponsorship. Energy companies along the Front Range and semiconductor manufacturers in the Boulder-Denver corridor have also filed sponsorship petitions for technician-level roles.
Which visa types are most common for engineering technician roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for engineering technician roles that require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering technology. Some positions qualify under TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering categories. O-1 visas occasionally apply to technicians with exceptional records. The role must meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which can be competitive at the technician level.
Which cities in Colorado have the most engineering technician sponsorship jobs?
The Denver-Aurora metro area leads the state, driven by aerospace, defense, and energy sector employers with established sponsorship programs. Boulder is a secondary hub, home to Ball Aerospace, NIST, and several technology firms. Colorado Springs has a significant federal contractor and military-adjacent defense presence. Fort Collins, with Colorado State University nearby, also sees technician hiring in engineering and cleantech sectors.
How to find engineering technician visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters engineering technician roles specifically to employers who have sponsored work visas, so you're not sifting through listings from companies unlikely to file petitions. For Colorado, focus your search on aerospace, defense, and energy sectors where sponsorship is more established at the technician level. Migrate Mate's Colorado-specific filter lets you narrow results to in-state openings and track which employers are actively hiring internationally sponsored technicians.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering technician visa sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's high concentration of federal contractors means many engineering technician roles require security clearances, which can complicate or delay sponsorship since clearances are generally not granted to non-U.S. persons. Roles outside the cleared-contractor space, such as those in commercial aerospace, energy, and university research settings, tend to have more straightforward sponsorship pathways. Colorado State University and the University of Colorado Boulder also produce OPT-eligible graduates that some local employers sponsor into H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering technician jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
