Which companies sponsor visas for principals in Colorado?
Colorado's largest visa sponsors for principal-level roles include Lockheed Martin Space in Littleton, Raytheon Intelligence and Space in Aurora, Google and Amazon in the Denver-Boulder corridor, and the University of Colorado system. These employers have established H-1B sponsorship programs and regularly file for senior technical and leadership positions that fall under the principal designation.
Which visa types are most common for principal roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for principal roles in Colorado, particularly for principal engineers, principal scientists, and principal architects, since these positions typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. The O-1A is increasingly used for principal researchers and senior technical leads who can demonstrate extraordinary ability. Some principals at multinational firms transfer on L-1A visas.
Which cities in Colorado have the most principal sponsorship jobs?
Denver has the highest concentration of principal-level visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado, driven by its large tech, aerospace, and healthcare sectors. Boulder follows closely, anchored by University of Colorado affiliates, national laboratories like NIST and NCAR, and a dense cluster of software companies. Colorado Springs adds significant volume through defense contractors and cybersecurity firms headquartered near Peterson Space Force Base.
How to find principal visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for principal roles in Colorado without wading through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and job title to surface opportunities at Colorado employers actively hiring at the principal level. This saves time compared to manually reviewing individual company career pages for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there state-specific considerations for principal visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Colorado's strong aerospace and defense industry means many principal roles require security clearances, which can complicate or delay visa sponsorship since clearances are not available to non-U.S. persons. Candidates targeting cleared positions should focus on employers with unclassified principal tracks. Colorado's active university and national laboratory sector, including NREL, NOAA, and CU campuses, offers principal research roles through cap-exempt H-1B filings, which are not subject to the annual lottery.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
