Which companies sponsor visas for principals in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers with established visa sponsorship programs for principal-level roles include Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard University, MIT, Boston Consulting Group, and major technology firms headquartered in the Greater Boston area. Life sciences companies such as Biogen and Moderna also sponsor senior roles. These organizations have dedicated immigration support infrastructure, which makes senior sponsorship more practical than at smaller firms.
Which visa types are most common for principal roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for principal roles in Massachusetts, covering positions that require a specialized bachelor's degree or higher. O-1A visas are an option for principals with extraordinary achievement in their field, and are particularly relevant in academic and research settings. Principals transferring within multinational organizations may qualify for the L-1A visa. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
How to find principal visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find principal roles in Massachusetts that include visa sponsorship. You can filter by role type and state to surface positions from employers who have documented sponsorship history. Given that principal titles span education, consulting, and technology in Massachusetts, filtering by industry alongside location helps narrow results to the most relevant opportunities in Greater Boston and surrounding areas.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most principal sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the majority of principal sponsorship roles in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of universities, research hospitals, and technology companies in those cities. Somerville, Waltham, and Lexington also have meaningful hiring activity, particularly in life sciences and consulting. Worcester has a growing presence through UMass Medical School and regional healthcare systems that periodically sponsor senior-level positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for principals seeking visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when sponsoring H-1B visa holders, and the Boston metropolitan area carries its own wage determinations that reflect the region's competitive compensation market. The state's density of research universities creates a pipeline of principal candidates, which means sponsoring employers in academia and healthcare are generally familiar with the H-1B and O-1 processes. Principals in education should verify whether their specific institution qualifies for cap-exempt H-1B filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
