What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking an Sr Software Engineer (Engineering Enablement lead) to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape through AI-driven engineering practices. The individual will serve as a technical thought leader, product owner, and leader in equal measure — setting direction, shaping strategy, managing the Engineering Enablement product portfolio, and ensuring AI-driven engineering practices take root and scale across Claim Technology. While maintaining the technical depth to engage credibly across the full software engineering lifecycle, this role is defined by the ability to influence how engineering is done at the organizational level, ensure the right work is being prioritized and delivered, and develop the people and teams responsible for making it happen. The individual will consult with stakeholders to determine software and system functional specifications, inform the effective use of resources, act as subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems and technologies, leverage technical and domain knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives, and provide leadership that elevates the entire Engineering Enablement organization. In this role, the individual serves as the Engineering Enablement Lead — responsible for ensuring the AI Enablement & Experience circle is focused on the highest-impact work, setting the technical direction for AI-driven engineering adoption across Claim Technology, owning the Engineering Enablement product roadmap, and representing Engineering Enablement in conversations with enterprise and claim leadership. This individual is expected to develop deep organizational fluency across all Engineering Enablement functions, building the strategic, operational, and executive communication capabilities that position them for expanded leadership responsibility over time.
What Will You Do?
- Shape and communicate the technical direction for AI-driven engineering across the Engineering Enablement organization, ensuring the AI Enablement & Experience circle is continuously focused on the highest-value opportunities.
- Own and actively manage the Engineering Enablement product roadmap — defining, prioritizing, and sequencing work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure the circle is always working on the right things at the right time.
- Engage credibly across the full software engineering lifecycle — from design and architecture through testing and production health — bringing hands-on technical depth to thought leadership conversations and strategic decisions.
- Lead and develop the engineers within the AI Enablement & Experience circle, fostering a high-performing team culture grounded in AI-driven practices, continuous learning, and shared accountability for outcomes.
- Take the lead on directing and implementing solutions to moderately complex, loosely scoped problems that are aligned with team goals, with a specific responsibility for ensuring the circle is continuously prioritized against the highest-value engineering enablement opportunities across the organization.
- Deliver efforts both independently and by leading other team members, modeling AI-driven engineering behaviors that set the bar for the broader Engineering Enablement organization.
- Lead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents, applying AI-driven diagnostic and pattern recognition capabilities to accelerate resolution and prevent recurrence.
- Act as a technology advocate, independently seeking opportunities where AI-driven technology can be utilized to fundamentally improve how Claim Technology engineers design, build, and deliver software — not just at the task level, but at the process and system level.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship while fostering a team environment where AI-driven fluency is a shared expectation and continuous learning is the norm.
- Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques — with particular depth in AI, developer tooling, and engineering productivity — to formulate solutions within the context of assigned efforts and share that knowledge broadly across the organization.
- Represent the Engineering Enablement organization in discussions with enterprise and claim leadership, translating technical AI enablement strategy and product outcomes into business-relevant narratives that resonate with senior stakeholders.
- Partner with the Engineering Enablement organization leader on strategic planning, organizational decisions, and stakeholder engagement — developing broad organizational context and a deep understanding of how Engineering Enablement creates value across Claim Technology.
- Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities, with a deliberate focus on the intersection of AI-driven engineering, product management, organizational design, and engineering culture change.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Five years of programming/development experience.
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and product ownership within an engineering organization.
- Delivery - Advanced delivery skills including the ability to determine the software design strategy and methodology to be used for efforts, use automated tests, analysis, and informed feedback loops to ensure the quality and production readiness of work before release, monitor the health of work efforts and that of adjacent systems. Applies AI-driven automation and instrumentation to elevate delivery quality and velocity at the circle level, and holds a strong point of view on where AI-driven practices should be invested to generate the greatest return across Engineering Enablement. Brings product ownership discipline to delivery — ensuring work is well-sequenced, stakeholder-aligned, and consistently tied to measurable outcomes.
- Domain Expertise - Demonstrated track record of domain expertise including the ability to develop business partnerships and influence priorities by identifying solutions that are aligned with current business objectives and closely follow industry trends relevant to domain, understanding how to apply them, and sharing knowledge with coworkers. Brings deep expertise in AI-driven engineering practices, developer experience, engineering enablement, and product management, and is recognized as a credible thought leader by both technical peers and senior claim and enterprise leadership.
- Problem Solving - Strong problem solver who utilizes data and proofs of concepts to find creative solutions to difficult problems, reflects on solutions, measuring their impact, and uses that information to ideate and optimize. Also adept at making decisions that involve a significant number of factors with broad implications. Applies AI-driven experimentation and rapid prototyping to validate enablement approaches before scaling, and uses data and stakeholder input to continuously sharpen the circle's product focus and prioritization.
- Communication - Strong communicator who possesses the ability to describe technology concepts in ways the business can understand, document initiatives in a concise and clear manner, collaborate effectively with teammates and others regardless of role, quickly extract core issues from discussions and meetings, give and receive constructive feedback, offer help when asked, and ensure everyone has a chance to share their thoughts and are heard; an attentive and empathetic listener. Equally comfortable presenting AI-driven engineering strategy and product roadmap outcomes to enterprise and claim leadership as they are pairing with an engineer on a complex technical problem — able to flex between executive narrative and ground-level technical detail with ease.
- Leadership - Advanced leadership skills with the ability to take action even when there is no clear owner, inspire and motivate others, and be effective at influencing team members. Demonstrates the strategic mindset, organizational awareness, product ownership discipline, and executive presence expected of a senior Engineering Enablement leader — actively building relationships across Claim Technology, earning trust with senior stakeholders, developing the engineers they lead, and creating the conditions for the AI-driven engineering transformation to take hold and scale across the organization.
What is a Must Have?
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
- 6 additional years of software engineering experience.

Which companies sponsor visas for product management leads in Connecticut?
Connecticut's largest visa sponsors for senior product management roles include Travelers, Cigna, Synchrony Financial, Pitney Bowes, and Boehringer Ingelheim. Hartford-based insurers and Stamford-based financial services firms file Labor Condition Applications for product lead positions regularly. Defense and aerospace contractors like Pratt & Whitney, headquartered in East Hartford, also sponsor product management talent with specialized technical backgrounds.
Which visa types are most common for product management lead roles in Connecticut?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for product management leads in Connecticut, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, qualifying them as specialty occupations. L-1A intracompany transferee visas are also common at large multinationals like Cigna and Synchrony. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may explore O-1B status, though that pathway requires substantial documented recognition in the field.
Which cities in Connecticut have the most product management lead sponsorship jobs?
Stamford generates the highest concentration of product management lead sponsorship activity, driven by its density of financial services and media company headquarters. Hartford follows closely, anchored by major insurers and healthcare technology firms. New Haven, home to a Yale University-adjacent biotech cluster, is an emerging source of product leadership hiring. Greenwich and Norwalk also see demand from financial technology and data analytics companies operating along the I-95 corridor.
How to find product management lead visa sponsorship jobs in Connecticut?
Migrate Mate filters product management lead roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse open positions in Connecticut without sorting through companies that don't sponsor. The platform surfaces roles at Connecticut employers with active sponsorship history, which is particularly useful for senior product positions in Hartford's insurance sector and Stamford's financial services hub. Setting up role and location filters on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to searching manually.
Are there state-specific considerations for product management leads pursuing sponsorship in Connecticut?
Connecticut's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B product management lead roles reflect the state's high cost of living, particularly in Fairfield County, which is part of the New York metropolitan labor market. Employers filing Labor Condition Applications must meet wage levels benchmarked to that region, which tend to be among the higher thresholds in the Northeast. The state's concentration of regulated industries like insurance and healthcare also means product leads often need domain knowledge that influences how employers structure job requirements for sponsorship eligibility.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product management lead jobs in Connecticut?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
