INTRODUCTION

We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You have spent years working in the areas of synthesis, place and route, and formal verification. You know implementation tools not just as a user but as someone who understands the tradeoffs that matter at advanced nodes and where the gaps still are.
You understand the technical details and can discuss features in depth with R&D, and you can stand in front of a VP at a top semiconductor company and explain why your roadmap solves their advanced node problem. You can direct your team to build a PRD or proof of concept based on customer requirements. You stay calm when multiple stakeholders want different things, and the schedule is not moving. Leading other TPMs means helping them cut through noise, prioritize what moves the business, and engage with R&D and customers without losing sight of the product. At Synopsys, you will help draft the technical direction for the implementation portfolio at the intersection of market trends, customer requirements, and AI-driven design flows.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead technical product management for the Synopsys's implementation portfolio with a focus on advanced node applications and AI and creating sustainable product differentiation
- Work directly with customers at leading semiconductor companies, hyperscalers, or large CAD organizations to identify high-value problems in synthesis, place and route, ECO flows, and multi-physics closure
- Define Market Requirements Documents and collaborate with Product Engineers to create Product Requirements Documents that engineering can execute against
- Guide team to write Tcl/Python prototypes to serve as executable specifications that eliminate ambiguity and accelerate development
- Define release readiness criteria for Alpha, Beta, LCA, and GA across the implementation portfolio
- Represent Synopsys as a subject matter expert at customer TRMs, MRMs, and industry forums including IEEE, IMEC, GOMAC, and TSMC events
- Mentor TPMs through complex cross-functional interactions, helping them prioritize initiatives with technical merit and ROI while blocking noise
- Build repeatable processes for prioritization, customer feedback loops, and KPI tracking to ensure the team works on high-impact problems
THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE
- Shape the technical direction for Synopsys's implementation portfolio, influencing how the industry tackles design challenges at 3nm, 2nm, and beyond
- Ensure Synopsys stays ahead of market trends by aligning product strategy with customer requirements before competitors do
- Accelerate customer time-to-market by solving the highest-value problems in synthesis, place and route, timing closure, and formal verification
- Build a culture of engagement and focus within the TPM team, ensuring time is spent on work that moves the business forward
- Increase product adoption and renewal rates by ensuring releases solve real customer problems
- Strengthen Synopsys's credibility as a thought leader in advanced design at the industry's most important technical forums
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 20+ years in applications engineering, R&D, or design roles within EDA or semiconductor design
- Deep hands-on expertise in synthesis, place and route, ECO flows, formal verification, or related implementation domains
- Proven ability to work with customers at leading semiconductor companies, hyperscalers, or large CAD organizations to define product requirements
- Executive presence with the ability to present technical product strategy to VPs, CTOs, and senior engineering leaders
- Comfort working in ambiguity, prioritizing across competing demands, and making decisions that balance technical merit with business ROI
- Willingness to be onsite at Sunnyvale HQ 4-5 days per week and travel domestically and internationally as needed
WHO YOU ARE
- You can sit with a customer whose design is failing at 2nm and walk out with a product idea that solves not just their problem but the category behind it
- You stay calm under pressure, whether that is a customer escalation, a missed milestone, or multiple executives with conflicting priorities
- You know when a feature is ready for Beta and when it needs another month, and you make that call even when the pressure is to ship
- You build credibility with R&D because you speak their language, and with sales because you understand what closes deals
- You mentor TPMs by helping them think through tradeoffs, build their case for alignment, and focus on what matters
THE TEAM YOU'LL BE PART OF
You will join a team drafting the technical direction for Synopsys's implementation portfolio, working at the nexus of market trends, customer requirements, and emerging technologies. This is a collaborative, hands-on culture that values out-of-the-box thinking and deep engagement with new technology. The team is led by a manager who lets experts run with their ideas, leans toward democratic decision-making, and pushes hard while ensuring credit goes where it is due. You will work closely with TPMs, R&D teams, field engineers, product engineering, marketing, and customers across time zones. Travel is limited but includes domestic and international trips for customer engagements and industry events.

Which companies sponsor visas for product management leads in California?
Large tech employers are the most consistent sponsors for product management lead roles in California. Companies like Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Intuit, and Qualcomm have established immigration programs and regularly file H-1B visa petitions for senior product roles. Enterprise software firms and late-stage startups in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor, though smaller companies do so less predictably.
Which visa types are most common for product management lead roles in California?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for product management leads in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field such as computer science, engineering, or business. Candidates already holding L-1B or O-1A status also work in these roles. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than the H-1B.
Which cities in California have the most product management lead sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, and Menlo Park, accounts for the largest concentration of product management lead sponsorship jobs in California. Los Angeles is a strong secondary market, particularly in media tech, fintech, and e-commerce. San Diego has a growing cluster of biotech and defense tech employers that hire senior PMs with sponsorship.
How to find product management lead visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to browse product management lead openings in California without wading through roles that don't sponsor. You can narrow results by location and seniority level to focus on California-based employers actively hiring international candidates for PM lead positions. Migrate Mate sources listings from companies with verified sponsorship histories.
Are there any California-specific considerations for product management lead sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program reflect the state's high cost of living, meaning employers must meet wage levels set for the specific metro area, whether San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego. The state's strong university pipeline from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA also means competition for sponsored roles is high. Employers in regulated industries like healthcare tech or defense may require additional security or compliance vetting.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product management lead jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
