Job Summary
ASML Wilton is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join the Wilton Factory Optics team with primary ownership of visual inspection processes. This role is responsible for process development, stabilization, and daily performance across automated and manual visual inspection operations. The position requires a deep technical understanding of optical fabrication, strong analytical capability, and the ability to drive sustainable improvements in a fast-paced production environment.
The engineer will directly support output, yield, and quality targets—including improving First Pass Yield (FPY) through stable, predictable, and well controlled process behavior.
This role requires a proactive engineering mindset: anticipating issues before they impact production, driving structured 6P readiness, performing thorough RCA, and continuously evaluating new technologies to strengthen long-term process control. This is not a reactive support role; the expectation is ownership, foresight, and continuous improvement.
Job Description
The Senior Process Engineer will operate as a technical leader within Wilton Factory Optics with end-to-end ownership of visual inspection processes. Responsibilities include defining and optimizing process parameters, ensuring measurement stability, selecting tooling, and understanding machine behavior when applicable. The engineer will manage visual inspection performance, inspection control strategies, and inspection output quality while ensuring consistent results across tools, people, and shifts.
The visual inspection scope includes control of tooling, environment, fixturing, and other factors influencing inspection output. The PE will lead the introduction and qualification of new fixtures, tools, software, manual processes, and machine upgrades, and will convert surface inspection data into actionable decisions.
A key responsibility is establishing strong process control: defining process windows, capability targets, and long-term monitoring systems. The PE will use JMP or Minitab to identify variation, drift, and chronic stability risks, ensuring processes are robust, documented, and repeatable. This includes maintaining process specifications, work instructions, and standard work while driving alignment across production and support teams.
The engineer will collaborate daily with production technicians, supervisors, cross factory teams, quality, equipment engineering, and maintenance, balancing immediate production needs with structured long-term improvement projects.
The Senior PE is expected to:
- Build process stability that prevents rework and FPY loss
- Detect and eliminate sources of variation impacting FPY and yield
- Lead structured RCA using statistical and analytical methods
- Ensure corrective actions are verified, embedded, and sustainable
- Own full 6P readiness for process, material, or equipment changes
Beyond daily support, the engineer is expected to proactively seek, evaluate, and integrate:
- Inspection process control methods
- Advanced inspection tools
- Next generation inspection technologies
- Equipment or software capabilities that improve stability, predictability, and throughput
Education and Experience
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or related engineering field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in optical fabrication and visual inspection
- Experience in tooling mechanics, Mil and ISO inspection standards, and process development
- Demonstrated ability in structured problem solving, data analysis, RCA, and process improvement
Skills
- Strong understanding of Mil and ISO visual inspection standards and tooling mechanics for accurate measurements
- Proficiency with manual and automated visual inspection tools
- Experience using JMP, Minitab, or equivalent statistical software
- Strong communication, cross functional collaboration, and leadership in a production environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under time sensitive conditions
- Demonstrated capability in 6P readiness, structured RCA, and verification driven corrective action
Physical Requirements
- Work includes time spent on the fabrication floor, interaction with visual inspection equipment, and periods of standing or walking.
- The role may require lifting materials up to 35 pounds.
- Visual acuity for inspection tasks is required. The environment includes exposure to noise, vibration, and manufacturing equipment while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Additional Responsibilities:
There is potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Which electronics companies sponsor TN visas in Connecticut?
Connecticut has a strong base of electronics and defense-electronics employers with documented sponsorship activity. Amphenol, headquartered in Wallingford, regularly hires engineers in connector and electronic component design. Crane Aerospace and Collins Aerospace (a Raytheon Technologies division) maintain engineering facilities in the state. Smaller precision electronics manufacturers in the Naugatuck Valley corridor also hire TN visa-eligible candidates, though sponsorship practices vary by company and role.
Which cities in Connecticut have the most electronics TN sponsorship jobs?
The Hartford metro area sees the highest concentration of electronics TN roles, driven by aerospace-electronics and defense contractors clustered in East Hartford, Windsor, and Farmington. Wallingford and Shelton in the south-central corridor host key electronics manufacturers including Amphenol. Fairfield County, particularly Norwalk and Stamford, adds electronics-adjacent engineering roles tied to the region's broader technology and advanced manufacturing presence.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN sponsorship applies to roles that map to USMCA-listed professional categories, most commonly Computer Systems Analyst, Engineer, and Scientific Technician. In Connecticut's electronics sector, qualifying positions typically include electrical engineers, electronics design engineers, hardware engineers, systems integration engineers, and RF or signal processing engineers. The role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, and the job duties must align with a recognized USMCA category.
How do I find electronics TN sponsorship jobs in Connecticut?
Migrate Mate lists electronics jobs in Connecticut filtered specifically for TN visa sponsorship, so you can search without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. Look for roles in electrical engineering, hardware design, and systems engineering posted by Connecticut-based manufacturers and defense contractors. Filtering by the Electronics and Hardware category on Migrate Mate surfaces the most relevant openings for TN-eligible Canadian and Mexican professionals in the state.
Are there any Connecticut-specific considerations for electronics TN sponsorship?
Connecticut's electronics hiring is heavily tied to defense and aerospace contracts, which can affect sponsorship willingness. Some defense-related roles require security clearances that are difficult or impossible for non-U.S. persons to obtain, effectively limiting TN eligibility for certain positions. Candidates should confirm clearance requirements before applying. Connecticut has no state-level visa restrictions, but the concentration of defense work means clearance eligibility is a practical filter more common here than in other states.
