Which companies sponsor visas for cloud software engineers in Delaware?
The most active visa sponsors for cloud software engineers in Delaware tend to be large financial services firms and pharmaceutical companies. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Barclays regularly file H-1B petitions for cloud and infrastructure roles in Wilmington. DuPont and AstraZeneca sponsor for enterprise cloud positions. Smaller fintech firms headquartered in Wilmington have also filed sponsorships, though at lower volumes than the major banks.
Which visa types are most common for cloud software engineer roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud software engineers in Delaware, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. L-1B visas appear for intracompany transfers within large banks and multinationals. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship sometimes pursue TN visa status under the USMCA, which has no annual cap or lottery.
Which cities in Delaware have the most cloud software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the overwhelming majority of cloud software engineer sponsorship activity in Delaware. As the state's financial and corporate hub, it hosts technology centers for major banks, credit card companies, and pharmaceutical firms. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, has a smaller but growing tech presence, with some startups and mid-size companies posting cloud engineering roles. Dover sees very limited sponsorship activity in this field.
How to find cloud software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter cloud software engineer roles by state, including Delaware. This saves time by surfacing employers with active sponsorship histories rather than requiring you to screen each job listing manually. Given that Delaware's sponsorship activity is concentrated among a relatively small number of large employers, using a focused tool like Migrate Mate helps you prioritize the right targets quickly.
Are there any Delaware-specific considerations for cloud software engineers seeking sponsorship?
Delaware's incorporation-friendly environment means many large corporations are legally domiciled here, but their technology teams often operate in Wilmington's office corridor rather than being distributed statewide. Cloud software engineers should be aware that prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are benchmarked to the Wilmington metropolitan area, which includes parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. University of Delaware's computer science pipeline occasionally connects international graduates to local employers, though the sponsorship market remains employer-selective.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud software engineer jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
