Which companies sponsor visas for data science engineers in Delaware?
Delaware's largest visa sponsors for data science engineers tend to be financial services firms and life sciences companies. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Capital One have significant Wilmington presences and histories of H-1B sponsorship for data roles. On the pharma and biotech side, AstraZeneca and Incyte sponsor international hires in data and analytics functions. DuPont and CSC also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA filings for data science positions.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for data science engineers in Delaware, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates from India and China often also pursue EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa pathways after initial H-1B approval. Australians may find the E-3 visa a faster alternative to the H-1B for the same Delaware employers.
Which cities in Delaware have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the overwhelming majority of data science engineer sponsorship activity in Delaware, driven by its concentration of financial institutions and corporate headquarters. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, has a smaller but growing cluster of tech and research-adjacent roles. Dover sees occasional sponsorship through state government contractors and health systems, though the volume is significantly lower than Wilmington.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters data science engineer roles by visa sponsorship status, so you can browse Delaware positions without sorting through companies that won't sponsor. Because Delaware's market is concentrated in financial services and pharma, filtering by those industries on Migrate Mate helps surface the employers most likely to have active sponsorship programs and established immigration processes for data engineering talent.
Are there state-specific factors that affect data science engineer sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware's incorporation-friendly legal environment means many large corporations are registered there, but their actual hiring for data science engineers often happens at Wilmington operational offices rather than registered addresses. The University of Delaware produces a pipeline of OPT-eligible data and computer science graduates that some employers are familiar with sponsoring. Delaware's relatively small size means the sponsoring employer pool is narrower than in larger states, so targeting the right companies early matters.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
