Which companies sponsor visas for data science engineers in Idaho?
Micron Technology is Idaho's most prominent visa sponsor for technical roles, filing H-1B visa petitions consistently for data and engineering positions at its Boise campus. Clearwater Analytics, a fast-growing fintech firm headquartered in Boise, has also sponsored technical hires. Smaller software and analytics companies in the state sponsor less frequently, so targeting established technology employers with existing immigration infrastructure is the more reliable path.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for data science engineers in Idaho, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT have additional runway to secure sponsorship before the H-1B cap filing window. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications.
Which cities in Idaho have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the large majority of data science engineer positions and visa sponsorship activity in Idaho. The city hosts the state's highest concentration of technology and financial services employers, including Micron Technology's headquarters and Clearwater Analytics. Meridian and Nampa, as part of the broader Treasure Valley metro area, also have some employer presence, though job volume outside Boise drops significantly.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to search for data science engineer roles in Idaho without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because Idaho's sponsoring employer pool is smaller than major tech hubs, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for Boise-area data science postings helps ensure you see new opportunities as soon as they appear.
Are there any Idaho-specific considerations for data science engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Idaho follows federal prevailing wage requirements, so sponsoring employers must pay data science engineers the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the Boise metropolitan area, which is determined by job level and location. Boise State University's data science and computing programs create a local graduate pipeline, but international graduates often need to connect with employers before OPT ends. Idaho has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons when evaluating offers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
