Which companies sponsor visas for data science engineers in Indiana?
Eli Lilly, Salesforce, Anthem, and Cummins have all filed H-1B applications for data and engineering roles in Indiana. The Indianapolis metro has the highest concentration of sponsoring employers, with additional activity from Purdue Research Foundation affiliates and healthcare systems like Indiana University Health. Sponsorship availability varies by role, team, and hiring cycle, so checking active LCA filings is the most reliable way to confirm a specific employer's current activity.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for data science engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like computer science, statistics, or engineering. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship use the TN visa under the engineer category. International students completing degrees at Indiana universities often bridge to full-time roles through OPT or STEM OPT before employer-sponsored H-1B petitions.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for data science engineer roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. The platform is built for this use case, which saves time compared to general job searches where sponsorship status is rarely stated upfront. Focusing your search on Indianapolis-area employers in healthcare, life sciences, and enterprise software gives you the highest concentration of active sponsors in the state.
Which cities in Indiana have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of data science engineer sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 regional offices, major health systems, and technology companies. West Lafayette is a secondary market, primarily tied to Purdue University and research-adjacent employers in its orbit. Bloomington sees some activity linked to Indiana University and its affiliated research centers, though the volume is smaller than the Indianapolis metro.
Are there state-specific considerations for data science engineers seeking sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions are set at the federal level using DOL wage surveys, but actual wage levels in Indianapolis generally fall below those in coastal tech hubs, which can affect which wage tier an employer's offer falls into. Purdue and Indiana University generate a significant share of the state's international STEM talent, so many Indiana employers already have established sponsorship processes for this pipeline. Life sciences and healthcare are the dominant industries for sponsored data roles, so candidates with domain knowledge in those sectors may find more opportunities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
