Which companies in Missouri sponsor visas for data science engineers?
Several large Missouri employers have sponsored work visas for data science and engineering roles in recent years. Mastercard's St. Louis technology hub, Express Scripts (now part of Cigna), Cerner, Centene, and Edward Jones are among the companies with documented H-1B sponsorship activity. Larger corporations with dedicated data and analytics teams tend to have the infrastructure and legal support to manage the sponsorship process.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science engineers in Missouri, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like computer science, statistics, or engineering. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization can begin work before H-1B sponsorship is pursued. O-1A visas are an option for candidates with documented exceptional achievement in the field.
Which cities in Missouri have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis is Missouri's primary hub for data science engineering roles, driven by its concentration of healthcare, financial services, and technology employers. Kansas City is a growing second market, particularly in fintech, logistics, and insurance analytics. Smaller pockets of activity exist near university research corridors, but the vast majority of sponsoring employers with data science teams are headquartered or have major offices in these two metro areas.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa-sponsored roles, including data science engineer positions in Missouri. You can filter jobs by state and role type to surface employers who have an active history of sponsorship. This is more efficient than broad searches, since Missouri's sponsoring employers for data science roles are concentrated in specific industries and companies worth targeting directly.
Are there state-specific or role-specific considerations for data science engineers seeking sponsorship in Missouri?
Missouri does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal standards, but the industry mix matters for candidates. Healthcare and financial services employers, which dominate Missouri's data science hiring, often require candidates to pass background checks and hold clearances that can affect timelines. Missouri's universities, including Washington University in St. Louis and University of Missouri, also produce graduate pipelines that some employers already have sponsorship relationships with.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
