Which companies sponsor visas for software architects in Delaware?
Financial institutions with significant Wilmington operations, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Barclays, are among the most active H-1B sponsors for technical roles in Delaware. DuPont and Incyte also file H-1B petitions for senior engineering positions. Because Delaware's tech hiring is concentrated in financial services and life sciences, software architect sponsorship tends to cluster within those industries rather than across a broad startup ecosystem.
Which visa types are most common for software architect roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software architects in Delaware, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability or multinational manager backgrounds may also qualify for O-1 visa or L-1 visas respectively. Australian citizens specifically have access to the E-3 visa, which operates similarly to the H-1B but without a lottery.
How to find software architect visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse software architect roles in Delaware without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. Because Delaware's market is relatively small, setting up alerts for Wilmington and Newark is more effective than broader state-level searches. Migrate Mate's database focuses on employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which is especially useful in a concentrated market like Delaware.
Which cities in Delaware have the most software architect sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the majority of Delaware's software architect sponsorship activity, driven by its dense concentration of financial services and banking headquarters. Newark is the second most active area, partly due to proximity to the University of Delaware and a growing cluster of technology and biotech employers. Dover, the state capital, has limited private-sector tech hiring and rarely appears in H-1B disclosure data for software architect roles.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software architects pursuing sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware's small geographic size means the software architect market is heavily tied to a few dominant industries, particularly financial services and life sciences. Employers here tend to hire for senior or principal-level architect roles rather than mid-level positions, so candidates with at least several years of enterprise-scale experience are better positioned. The University of Delaware in Newark also creates a local pipeline of engineering talent, which some employers draw on before looking internationally, so demonstrating specialized expertise matters.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software architect jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
