Which companies sponsor visas for software architects in North Carolina?
Several large employers in North Carolina have consistent track records of H-1B visa sponsorship for software architect roles. Cisco and Lenovo maintain significant engineering presences in the Research Triangle Park area, as do Red Hat and SAS Institute. In Charlotte, Bank of America and Wells Fargo sponsor architects for financial platform and infrastructure work. Mid-size technology firms in the RTP corridor also file sponsorship petitions regularly.
Which visa types are most common for software architect roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software architects in North Carolina, given that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates already holding L-1A or L-1B status through multinational employers in the RTP or Charlotte areas also transfer into architect roles. O-1A petitions are filed less frequently, generally for candidates with documented technical leadership or industry recognition.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most software architect sponsorship jobs?
The Research Triangle area, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, concentrates the largest share of software architect sponsorship activity in the state. This reflects the density of technology companies, federal contractors, and life sciences firms operating near RTP. Charlotte is the secondary market, driven by its financial services sector. Smaller pockets of demand exist in Cary and Morrisville, where several enterprise software companies have offices.
How to find software architect visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for software architect roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces openings across the Research Triangle, Charlotte, and surrounding areas. Focusing your search on companies with established engineering centers in RTP or financial technology firms in Charlotte tends to yield the strongest concentration of sponsored architect positions.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software architects in North Carolina?
North Carolina's proximity to three major research universities, NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke, creates a strong pipeline that employers draw from when evaluating international candidates. Many RTP-area companies are experienced with H-1B sponsorship processes given the region's long history as a technology hub. Employers filing Labor Condition Applications for software architect roles must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the Raleigh-Durham or Charlotte metropolitan statistical areas, which are assessed separately from each other.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software architect jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
