Which companies in Colorado sponsor visas for software architects?
Several large Colorado employers have consistent H-1B visa sponsorship histories for senior engineering roles. Lockheed Martin and Raytheon sponsor through their Denver and Colorado Springs operations, though defense roles may require additional security clearance considerations. Palantir in Denver, Arrow Electronics in Centennial, and Oracle's Colorado offices have also filed for software architect positions. Startups in Boulder's tech community sponsor less frequently but do participate, particularly those backed by institutional funding.
Which visa types are most common for software architect roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software architects in Colorado, given the role's clear specialty occupation classification requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. The O-1A is an option for architects with recognized technical leadership or publications. Candidates already in the U.S. on L-1A or L-1B transfers through multinational employers also represent a meaningful share of sponsored hires at Colorado's larger tech and defense firms.
Which cities in Colorado have the most software architect sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of software architect sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of enterprise technology companies, financial services firms, and government contractors. Boulder is a secondary hub with a higher density of growth-stage companies working in AI and developer tooling. Colorado Springs has demand tied specifically to defense and aerospace employers. Fort Collins and the Denver Tech Center corridor also host engineering-focused employers that hire at the architect level.
How to find software architect visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search software architect roles in Colorado without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from Colorado employers across Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs that have active sponsorship histories. Filtering by architecture-level seniority helps narrow results to roles where a specialty occupation determination is straightforward, which matters for H-1B petitions.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for software architect visa sponsorship?
Colorado's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B Labor Condition Application are set by the Department of Labor and reflect the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area's competitive engineering market, which sits above the national median for architecture-level roles. The state's aerospace and defense sector introduces a practical consideration: some architect positions at contractors like Lockheed Martin or Northrop Grumman require security clearances that are difficult to obtain without U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, effectively limiting sponsorship to non-classified engineering teams.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software architect jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
