Job Description Summary:
ModMed is looking for a Senior Software Architect to serve as a technical linchpin within our Architecture Organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Software Architecture, you will be responsible for turning high-level business strategies into scalable, high-performing technical realities. You will lead the design of complex, cloud-native systems, ensuring that our software products are not only innovative but also resilient, secure, and built for long-term sustainability. As a Senior Architect, you will act as a bridge between the Director’s vision and the engineering teams’ execution, providing the technical blueprints and leadership necessary to modernize our healthcare technology suite.
- Architectural Blueprinting: Define the technical solutions, assumptions, and constraints for major initiatives. You will create the technical roadmaps that align with our "multi-generation" software plans.
- Cloud-Native Evolution: Lead the migration and optimization of ModMed products into a unified cloud engineering organization, utilizing AWS/Azure/GCP best practices.
- Standardization & Reuse: Identify recurring patterns across different product lines to develop common frameworks, reducing duplication and driving engineering efficiency across the enterprise.
- Hands-on Technical Leadership: While this is an architecture role, you will remain "hands-on" by developing prototypes (POCs), establishing CI/CD standards, and ensuring modern SRE/DevOps principles are baked into every design.
- Technical Governance: Evaluate existing systems to identify bottlenecks in performance, security, or cost, and propose actionable architectural shifts to resolve them.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor to staff and senior engineers, elevating the technical bar across the organization and ensuring the architecture is understood and correctly implemented.
What you'll bring
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a dedicated architectural role.
- Proven track record of designing and scaling large-scale, distributed SaaS applications. You should be an expert in horizontal scaling, database sharding, and event-driven architectures.
- Deep experience with cloud-native principles (Containers, Kubernetes, Serverless, and Service Mesh) and multi-cloud strategies.
- Expert knowledge of Agile, Lean, and SAFe. You understand how to integrate architectural runway into a fast-moving development sprint.
- Solid experience with automation frameworks, observability (APM, logging), and security-by-design (DevSecOps).
- Exceptional ability to decompose complex problems and explain them clearly to both developers and executive leadership.
ModMed Benefits Highlight: At ModMed, we believe it’s important to offer a competitive benefits package designed to meet the diverse needs of our growing workforce. Eligible Modernizers can enroll in a wide range of benefits:
United States

Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for software architects?
Florida-based employers with a track record of sponsoring software architects include Citrix in Fort Lauderdale, Chewy in Dania Beach, Lockheed Martin and other defense contractors near Orlando and the Space Coast, and large financial institutions in Miami. Healthcare technology firms and university-affiliated research organizations across the state also sponsor H-1B visa petitions for senior engineering roles.
What visa types are most commonly used for software architect roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software architects in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may qualify for the O-1A. Multinational companies with Florida offices sometimes use the L-1A for architects transferring from abroad.
Which Florida cities have the most software architect visa sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads due to its expanding tech and fintech sector, attracting both startups and established firms. Orlando follows with a strong concentration of defense, simulation, and theme park technology employers. Tampa has grown significantly as a hub for financial services and healthcare IT. Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville also have active hiring activity for senior architecture roles.
How to find software architect visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for software architect roles in Florida. You can filter directly by role and state to surface employers who have a history of sponsoring candidates. This is more targeted than general job searches, since sponsorship willingness is already a filter rather than something you have to confirm separately.
Are there any Florida-specific factors software architects should know when pursuing visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how prevailing wage requirements compare to other states in take-home terms. The state's defense and aerospace concentration around Cape Canaveral means some roles require U.S. citizenship or security clearance eligibility, effectively limiting sponsorship availability in that segment. University pipelines from the University of Florida, University of Miami, and Florida International University also produce a steady flow of candidates competing for sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software architect jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
