Which companies sponsor visas for software engineers in AI roles in Delaware?
Wilmington-based financial institutions and life sciences companies are among the most active sponsors. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and DuPont have filed H-1B petitions for engineering roles, including positions with AI and machine learning components. Smaller fintech firms and technology consultancies operating in Delaware also sponsor, though less frequently. Sponsorship availability varies by team, budget cycle, and the seniority of the role.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer AI roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software engineer AI roles in Delaware, as these positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa. OPT and STEM OPT extensions are also used by recent graduates from Delaware and nearby universities.
Which cities in Delaware have the most software engineer AI sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington is Delaware's primary hub for software engineer AI sponsorship jobs, driven by its concentration of financial services, biotech, and corporate headquarters. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, has a smaller but growing presence in technology hiring, particularly through companies with university research partnerships. Most of Delaware's sponsored AI engineering roles are concentrated in New Castle County, which covers both Wilmington and Newark.
How to find software engineer ai visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for software engineer AI roles in Delaware without manually screening each employer. You can browse active openings from companies with H-1B sponsorship histories in the state. Because Delaware's AI engineering market is smaller than neighboring states, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for new Delaware postings helps you act quickly when relevant roles appear.
Are there any Delaware-specific considerations for software engineer AI visa sponsorship?
Delaware's status as a corporate registration hub means many companies are legally incorporated there but operate engineering teams elsewhere, so confirm the actual work location when reviewing postings. The University of Delaware in Newark produces computer science and AI graduates who enter the OPT pipeline, which some local employers already factor into their hiring. Delaware has no state-specific visa program, so federal sponsorship rules and prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor apply uniformly.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer ai jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
