Which companies sponsor visas for clinical laboratory scientists in Florida?
The most active sponsors for clinical laboratory scientist roles in Florida include large health systems such as AdventHealth, HCA Florida Healthcare, Baptist Health South Florida, Tampa General Hospital, and UF Health. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Florida, University of Miami, and University of South Florida also have established sponsorship histories. Reference laboratories operating statewide, such as Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp, have also filed H-1B petitions for laboratory positions in Florida.
Which visa types are most common for clinical laboratory scientist roles in Florida?
The H-1B visa is the most frequently used pathway for clinical laboratory scientists in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN status under the USMCA, which covers medical technologists and technicians. Some positions are also filled through J-1 exchange visitor programs, particularly at academic medical centers with graduate training affiliations.
Which cities in Florida have the most clinical laboratory scientist sponsorship jobs?
Miami and the broader South Florida region consistently produce the highest volume of clinical laboratory scientist postings, driven by large health systems like Baptist Health South Florida and numerous specialty hospitals. Orlando is a strong second, anchored by AdventHealth and Orlando Health. Tampa benefits from Tampa General Hospital, BayCare Health System, and proximity to USF Health. Jacksonville, home to Mayo Clinic Florida and UF Health Jacksonville, is also a reliable market for sponsored CLS positions.
How to find clinical laboratory scientist visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to find clinical laboratory scientist roles in Florida where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through general postings, you can browse opportunities from Florida health systems and reference laboratories that have sponsorship histories. Focusing your search on large hospital networks and academic medical centers in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville will yield the most relevant results for sponsored CLS positions.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for clinical laboratory scientists seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida requires clinical laboratory scientists to hold a state license issued by the Florida Department of Health, in addition to national certification from ASCP or an equivalent body. Employers initiating H-1B sponsorship will typically require proof of licensure eligibility before filing. Florida's large Medicare and Medicaid patient population means high laboratory throughput at most major health systems, which sustains consistent hiring demand. The state's concentration of hospital-owned and independent reference laboratories also broadens the range of employers who may consider sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored clinical laboratory scientist jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
