Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Florida?
Large transportation and logistics companies with significant Florida operations have the most established sponsorship track records for driver roles. Amazon Logistics, Werner Enterprises, J.B. Hunt, and XPO are among the carriers that have pursued employment-based sponsorship for qualified drivers. Port drayage operators around PortMiami and Port Everglades also hire commercial drivers and occasionally support visa sponsorship for experienced CDL holders.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Florida?
Most driver sponsorship in Florida occurs through EB-3 immigrant visa petitions, which cover skilled and unskilled workers and do not require the specialty occupation criteria that H-1B visas do. For commercial truck drivers specifically, employers file a PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available before petitioning USCIS on the employee's behalf.
Which cities in Florida have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Miami and Fort Lauderdale generate the highest concentration of sponsored driver roles due to port activity at PortMiami and Port Everglades, where container drayage demand is constant. Orlando and Tampa follow closely, driven by distribution center growth and e-commerce fulfillment operations. Jacksonville, as a major freight hub in northeastern Florida, also sees consistent commercial driver hiring from regional and national carriers.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify Florida driver positions without sorting through listings that exclude international candidates. Search for driver or CDL roles filtered to Florida on Migrate Mate to see current openings from logistics companies, carriers, and distribution operators actively hiring in the state.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for driver visa sponsorship?
Florida's year-round port activity and large distribution infrastructure mean driver demand stays relatively steady compared to more seasonal markets. However, commercial driver roles typically require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and international applicants should confirm whether their existing license qualifies for CDL equivalency or if they need to obtain a Florida CDL before or after arrival. Employers sponsoring drivers through PERM must also meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific Florida county where the driver is based.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
