Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Hawaii?
Employers most likely to sponsor drivers in Hawaii include large transportation contractors serving hotels and resorts, healthcare networks operating non-emergency medical transport, and logistics companies handling inter-island freight and last-mile delivery. Public transit operators and airport ground transportation companies are also known to hire through sponsorship when local labor supply is tight, particularly on Oahu and Maui.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Hawaii?
The H-2B visa is the most common pathway for driver roles in Hawaii, covering seasonal and temporary non-agricultural work such as resort shuttle and tourism transport positions. The H-1B visa is generally not available for driving roles, as they do not qualify as specialty occupations. Permanent resident sponsorship through the EB-3 category is possible for full-time, ongoing driver positions with employers willing to go through the PERM labor certification process.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii, with listings filtered specifically for employers open to sponsoring international workers. Because Hawaii's driver job market spans tourism, medical transport, and logistics, filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate helps you avoid positions that are local-hire only and focus on employers with a documented history of sponsorship.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu on Oahu accounts for the largest share of driver sponsorship opportunities in Hawaii, given its size, international airport, and concentration of hotels, hospitals, and logistics hubs. Kahului on Maui is a secondary market, driven by resort and airport transport demand. Hilo and Kailua-Kona on the Big Island have smaller but active markets tied to tourism and healthcare transport operations.
Are there any Hawaii-specific considerations for sponsored drivers?
Hawaii's geographic isolation means employers face genuine difficulty recruiting and retaining drivers locally, which makes sponsorship more common than in many mainland states. All sponsored positions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific driver classification and county. H-2B visa positions are tied to a specific employer and work period, so drivers should confirm the role's duration and renewal terms before accepting an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
