INTRODUCTION
The Vice President, Caribbean and Latin America Property Operations is the senior technology leader for IT in the continent, responsible for driving field technology operations and ensuring the successful delivery, adoption, and support of technology services across the region. This leader serves as the technology liaison between continent business leadership, hotel operations, property technology teams, owners, franchisees, and Marriott's Global Shared Services technology organizations.
The role is responsible for fostering strategic stakeholder relationships, representing the continent in enterprise technology forums, and advocating for the technology needs of the region. Working closely with leaders across IT Strategy, Product & Portfolio Management, Openings, Conversions & Deployments, and Service Management Office, this position ensures the successful execution of technology initiatives while maintaining operational excellence, cybersecurity compliance, service reliability, and business alignment.
The Vice President leads the continent's Field IT organization, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and people leadership to ensure the region's technology infrastructure, services, and support capabilities meet current and future business needs.
This role exists to close a longstanding structural gap in the continent's field technology model: CALA Continent Technology today has no formal authority over on-property IT talent, no consistent reporting lines to hold on-property technology staff accountable, and property-level compensation makes it difficult to retain technical talent. Closing this gap through governance structure, staffing model design, and property-level accountability is a primary mandate of this role, not a secondary responsibility.

Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for IT engineers?
Several large employers in Florida have consistent records of sponsoring work visas for IT engineers. These include Chewy and Chewy's tech division in Plantation, Citrix (now Cloud Software Group) in Fort Lauderdale, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman in the Orlando and Melbourne areas, AdventHealth and HCA Healthcare for healthcare IT roles, and large staffing and consulting firms operating across Miami and Tampa.
What visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for IT engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some employers also use the L-1B for intracompany transfers of specialized knowledge workers. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa for engineering-related occupations.

Tampa has a strong concentration of healthcare IT and financial services employers. Jacksonville is smaller but active, particularly in logistics technology and insurance IT. Fort Lauderdale, home to Cloud Software Group, also generates regular IT engineering openings.

Florida's university system, including the University of Florida, University of South Florida, and Florida International University, supplies a pipeline of IT talent that employers are familiar with sponsoring. Florida's defense and aerospace corridor around Orlando and the Space Coast also creates demand for IT engineers with security clearance eligibility, which can complicate sponsorship timelines.

U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
