Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for IT engineers?
Several large employers in Florida have consistent records of sponsoring work visas for IT engineers. These include Chewy and Chewy's tech division in Plantation, Citrix (now Cloud Software Group) in Fort Lauderdale, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman in the Orlando and Melbourne areas, AdventHealth and HCA Healthcare for healthcare IT roles, and large staffing and consulting firms operating across Miami and Tampa.
What visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some employers also use the L-1B for intracompany transfers of specialized knowledge workers. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3, and those from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa for engineering-related occupations.
Which cities in Florida have the most IT engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for IT engineer sponsorship activity, driven by a growing fintech and international tech presence. Orlando follows closely, anchored by simulation and defense technology firms. Tampa has a strong concentration of healthcare IT and financial services employers. Jacksonville is smaller but active, particularly in logistics technology and insurance IT. Fort Lauderdale, home to Cloud Software Group, also generates regular IT engineering openings.
How to find it engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find IT engineer roles in Florida where employers are open to visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for sponsorship-eligible positions, so you're not sorting through postings that exclude international candidates. For IT engineers, filtering by Florida cities like Miami, Orlando, and Tampa will surface the most active hiring employers in infrastructure, cloud, and systems engineering.
Are there state-specific considerations for IT engineers seeking sponsorship in Florida?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how employers benchmark total compensation against Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions. Florida's university system, including the University of Florida, University of South Florida, and Florida International University, supplies a pipeline of IT talent that employers are familiar with sponsoring. Florida's defense and aerospace corridor around Orlando and the Space Coast also creates demand for IT engineers with security clearance eligibility, which can complicate sponsorship timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
