Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapist assistants in Florida?
HCA Florida Healthcare, AdventHealth, BayCare Health System, and Kindred Healthcare operate extensively across Florida and have histories of sponsoring internationally trained allied health workers, including physical therapist assistants. Skilled nursing facilities and long-term care chains such as Consulate Health Care, which is headquartered in Maitland, Florida, also appear regularly as PTA sponsors given the state's high concentration of elderly residents requiring ongoing rehabilitation services.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapist assistant roles in Florida?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly filed visa for physical therapist assistants in Florida because PTAs typically hold an associate degree in a specialized field, which can meet the specialty occupation standard. Some employers also use the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway, particularly for candidates willing to pursue permanent residency. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens who qualify under the USMCA's physical therapist category, though it applies to licensed PTs more straightforwardly than PTAs.
Which cities in Florida have the most physical therapist assistant sponsorship jobs?
Tampa and Orlando consistently produce the highest volume of PTA job postings in Florida, driven by large hospital networks and dense outpatient clinic activity. Jacksonville is a secondary hub with growing rehabilitation demand. South Florida, particularly the Miami and Fort Lauderdale metro area, also sees steady PTA hiring linked to its large and aging Spanish-speaking population, which can make bilingual PTAs particularly attractive to employers in that region.
How to find physical therapist assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate specializes in visa sponsorship job listings for international candidates and filters specifically for physical therapist assistant roles in Florida. Because sponsorship is not always listed explicitly in standard job postings, Migrate Mate's filtering helps you identify employers who have filed sponsorship paperwork for PTA positions before. Focusing your search on larger health systems and long-term care networks in the Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville areas improves the likelihood of finding active sponsorship opportunities.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for PTAs seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida requires PTAs to hold a state license issued by the Florida Board of Physical Therapy Practice before practicing, and employers typically require proof of eligibility for licensure as part of any sponsorship offer. The state's large retiree population creates consistent rehabilitation demand, particularly in skilled nursing and home health settings. Employers in South Florida often prefer candidates with Spanish-language skills. Florida does not impose additional state-level visa filing requirements beyond federal immigration standards.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapist assistant jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
