Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for software design engineers?
Florida-based companies with a track record of sponsoring software design engineers include Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Chewy in Dania Beach, Citrix in Fort Lauderdale, and tech-forward financial firms in Miami such as Kaseya and Worldpay. Defense contractors concentrated along the Space Coast also regularly file H-1B petitions for software design and systems engineering roles.
What visa types are most common for software design engineers in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software design engineers in Florida. Employers file petitions under the specialty occupation category, citing a specific degree requirement in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates already on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension can work while a petition is pending. The O-1A is an option for engineers with documented exceptional contributions.
Which Florida cities have the most software design engineer sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads in volume, driven by a concentration of fintech, SaaS, and Latin America-facing tech companies. Orlando is a strong second due to defense, simulation, and theme park technology employers. Tampa has grown steadily with cybersecurity and health tech firms. Jacksonville is a smaller but active market, particularly in financial services technology. Each city reflects a distinct industry mix for software design roles.
How to find software design engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find software design engineer roles in Florida without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by city or region across the state. Because Florida's tech hiring spans defense, fintech, and SaaS, using a sponsorship-focused filter like Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to general job searching.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software design engineers in Florida?
Florida has no state income tax, which influences prevailing wage calculations used in H-1B Labor Condition Applications since total compensation packages often reflect this. Florida's strong university pipeline from the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and University of Miami produces international graduates who enter the job market on OPT, making Florida employers more accustomed to sponsorship processes than employers in some other states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software design engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
