Which companies sponsor visas for accounting interns in Georgia?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC, maintain Atlanta offices with established internship programs and experience sponsoring international students. Regional firms such as Aprio and Bennett Thrasher also recruit interns. Financial services companies headquartered in Georgia, including Fiserv and NCR Voyix, sometimes offer accounting intern roles with sponsorship potential, particularly for candidates already holding OPT or CPT authorization.
Which visa types are most common for accounting intern roles in Georgia?
F-1 students completing accounting internships in Georgia most commonly work under Curricular Practical Training during their degree or Optional Practical Training afterward. STEM OPT extension is generally not available for standard accounting programs unless the degree qualifies under a STEM-designated CIP code. H-1B visa sponsorship is possible for post-internship conversion to full-time roles but requires employer petition and lottery selection, making it relevant after graduation rather than during an internship.
Which cities in Georgia have the most accounting intern sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the large majority of accounting intern sponsorship opportunities in Georgia. The Midtown and Buckhead corridors concentrate professional services firms, and the metro area hosts the Georgia World Congress Center and significant corporate headquarters that drive demand for finance and accounting support. Savannah has a smaller but growing professional services presence. Outside Atlanta, opportunities are limited, making the city the practical center for international accounting interns in the state.
How to find accounting intern visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters accounting intern roles specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can search Georgia positions without sorting through employers unlikely to support international candidates. The platform surfaces roles from firms with demonstrated sponsorship history in the Atlanta market. Setting up alerts for accounting intern positions in Georgia on Migrate Mate helps you respond quickly, since internship recruiting cycles at major firms often open several months before the start date.
Are there state-specific considerations for accounting interns seeking sponsorship in Georgia?
Georgia's large international student population at Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, and Emory University means competition for sponsored accounting intern roles in Atlanta is meaningful. Employers recruiting through university career centers are familiar with CPT and OPT authorization but vary in willingness to commit to H-1B sponsorship after internship conversion. Georgia does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal rules, but candidates should confirm their school's CPT approval timeline aligns with internship start dates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting intern jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
