Search Accounting Intern Jobs in TexasAccounting Intern Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for accounting interns in Texas?
The Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) are the most consistent sponsors for accounting interns in Texas, with offices in Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Large energy companies headquartered in Houston, such as ExxonMobil and Chevron, also sponsor accounting interns. Regional firms and Fortune 500 companies with Texas headquarters round out the sponsorship pool.
Which visa types are most common for accounting intern roles in Texas?
Most international accounting interns in Texas work on F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows students enrolled at U.S. universities to complete paid internships without employer-sponsored petitions. After completing a degree, STEM OPT extension may apply if the accounting program qualifies. For longer-term roles following an internship, employers may pursue H-1B visa sponsorship, though that requires lottery selection.
Which cities in Texas have the most accounting intern sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas for accounting intern sponsorship volume, given its concentration of corporate headquarters, Big Four offices, and financial services firms. Houston is a close second, driven by its energy industry and large multinational presence. Austin is growing quickly as tech companies build out finance and accounting functions. San Antonio has a smaller but active market, particularly in banking and healthcare accounting.
How to find accounting intern visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including accounting intern positions in Texas. You can filter by state and role to surface employers with a documented history of sponsoring international hires. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations late in the process. Creating an account gives you access to the full Texas accounting intern sponsorship job feed.
Are there state-specific considerations for accounting interns seeking visa sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation calculations that employers factor into prevailing wage compliance for sponsored roles. Many Texas universities, including UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice, have strong pipelines directly into Big Four and regional firm internship programs, which are common starting points for international students. Intern roles tied to public accounting must align with CPA licensure requirements, which in Texas include specific credit hour thresholds.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting intern jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
