Which companies sponsor visas for principal software engineers in Georgia?
Atlanta-based employers with consistent H-1B visa sponsorship histories for senior engineering roles include NCR Voyix, Cox Enterprises, Delta Air Lines, Fiserv, Global Payments, and Honeywell. Large technology consultancies such as Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant also maintain significant Georgia offices and regularly sponsor principal-level engineers. Cloud and fintech startups in the Midtown and Buckhead corridors have expanded sponsorship activity in recent years.
Which visa types are most common for principal software engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for principal software engineers in Georgia, given the role's clear specialty occupation classification requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Some candidates with extraordinary ability pursue the O-1A. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN visa status using the 'computer systems analyst' or 'engineer' categories, depending on exact job duties.
Which cities in Georgia have the most principal software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the large majority of principal software engineer sponsorship opportunities in Georgia, particularly in the Midtown, Buckhead, and Peachtree Corners corridors. Alpharetta has emerged as a significant secondary hub, hosting financial technology and cybersecurity firms. Augusta and Savannah have smaller but growing tech presences, though Atlanta remains the dominant market for senior engineering roles requiring visa sponsorship.
How to find principal software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse principal software engineer roles posted by Georgia employers actively hiring international candidates. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor, saving significant research time for senior engineers targeting the Atlanta metro and surrounding areas.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for principal software engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Georgia Tech's strong computer science program creates a competitive local talent pipeline, so employers often compare sponsored candidates against a deep domestic pool. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for Fulton and DeKalb counties apply to H-1B petitions, meaning offered compensation must meet the wage level set for the specific SOC code and geographic area. Georgia has no state income tax on wages, which is a notable factor in total compensation discussions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal software engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
