Which accounting companies sponsor visas in Hawaii?
Major visa sponsors include First Hawaiian Bank, Bank of Hawaii, Hawaiian Electric Company, and large hospitality corporations like Hilton Grand Vacations. Regional CPA firms such as Accuity LLP and N&K CPAs also sponsor for specialized roles. Tourism-related businesses frequently need accounting professionals for complex revenue management and international reporting requirements.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most accounting sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu dominates with 75% of Hawaii's accounting visa sponsorship opportunities, hosting major banks, corporate headquarters, and large CPA firms. Hilo offers opportunities primarily with regional firms and county government contractors. Smaller markets like Kailua-Kona and Kahului have limited but steady demand, mainly from resort properties and local businesses.
How to find accounting visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international accounting professionals with Hawaiian employers willing to sponsor visas. The platform filters opportunities by visa type and experience level, featuring positions from Honolulu's financial district to resort accounting roles across the islands. Many Hawaiian employers prefer candidates with hospitality or tourism industry experience.
Which visa types are most common for accounting roles in Hawaii?
H-1B visas dominate for accounting positions requiring bachelor's degrees, particularly for corporate finance and audit roles. TN visas work well for Canadian and Mexican accountants with qualifying credentials. Some senior positions qualify for O-1 visas, especially those involving international tax planning for tourism companies with global operations.
What are the prevailing wage considerations for accounting jobs in Hawaii?
Hawaii's Department of Labor sets higher prevailing wages than most mainland states, reflecting the cost of living. Tourism industry accounting roles often command premiums due to complex revenue recognition requirements. What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
