Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapists in Hawaii?
The largest sponsors for physical therapist roles in Hawaii include The Queen's Health Systems, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, Straub Medical Center, and Hawaii Pacific Health. Skilled nursing facilities and outpatient rehabilitation networks such as Select Medical also appear in sponsorship filings. These employers tend to sponsor H-1B visa and EB-3 visas, and their sponsorship history is reflected in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapist roles in Hawaii?
Physical therapists in Hawaii are most commonly sponsored under the H-1B visa, which requires a specialty occupation degree, and the EB-3 employment-based green card category for skilled workers. Some employers also use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals who hold qualifying PT credentials. Physical therapy meets the specialty occupation standard because it requires a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree for state licensure.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most physical therapist sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu on Oahu has by far the highest concentration of physical therapist sponsorship jobs in Hawaii, driven by its major hospital systems, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation centers. Hilo and Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, as well as Kahului on Maui, have a smaller but consistent presence of PT openings, particularly in hospital outpatient departments and long-term care facilities serving underserved communities.
How to find physical therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship roles, making it straightforward to search physical therapist openings in Hawaii without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can narrow results by state and role to see which Hawaii employers are actively hiring PTs with sponsorship. Checking listings regularly is useful, as PT openings in Hawaii can move quickly given the state's relatively small but high-demand healthcare market.
Are there any state-specific considerations for physical therapists seeking sponsorship in Hawaii?
Hawaii requires physical therapists to hold a license from the Hawaii Physical Therapy Board before practicing, and international candidates must have their credentials evaluated for equivalency. Hawaii's geographic isolation means employer demand often exceeds local supply, which can work in favor of internationally trained PTs. The state also has a strong federally qualified health center network and Native Hawaiian health programs that recruit PTs for underserved communities across the islands.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapist jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
