Which companies sponsor visas for HR coordinators in Illinois?
Several large Illinois-based employers have sponsored visas for HR coordinator roles, including United Airlines, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Abbott Laboratories, Baxter International, and Caterpillar. These companies maintain HR teams large enough to support international hires and have the internal legal resources to manage sponsorship. Sponsorship is more common at enterprise-level employers than at small or mid-sized Illinois businesses.
Which visa types are most common for HR coordinator roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for HR coordinators in Illinois, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, which supports specialty occupation classification. Some HR coordinators also enter on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extensions before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. The L-1B is occasionally used for intracompany transferees moving into HR coordinator positions at multinational firms with Illinois offices.
Which cities in Illinois have the most HR coordinator sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the vast majority of HR coordinator visa sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and large healthcare systems like Northwestern Medicine and Rush University Medical Center. Suburban areas including Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Glenview also have notable HR hiring activity, as several Fortune 500 companies maintain large campuses there.
How to find hr coordinator visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find HR coordinator roles in Illinois where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Rather than sorting through hundreds of general postings, you can use Migrate Mate to focus on Illinois-based companies actively hiring international candidates for HR coordinator positions, which is especially useful during OPT or ahead of an H-1B filing deadline.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for HR coordinators seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois employers sponsoring H-1B workers for HR coordinator roles must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan area, which is one of the higher-wage regions nationally. Candidates with degrees from Illinois universities such as University of Illinois, Northwestern, or DePaul who have built local professional networks often find it easier to identify sponsoring employers, as those institutions have established recruiting pipelines with major Chicago-area corporations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hr coordinator jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
