Which companies sponsor visas for network administrators in Illinois?
Major Illinois employers with H-1B sponsorship records for network administrator roles include United Airlines, Allstate Insurance, Caterpillar, Advocate Aurora Health, and Northern Trust. Large consulting firms with Illinois offices, such as Accenture and Deloitte, also file sponsorship petitions for infrastructure roles. University systems including the University of Illinois and Northwestern University sponsor network staff through cap-exempt H-1B filings.
Which visa types are most common for network administrator roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for network administrator positions in Illinois, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Some positions at Illinois universities qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status under the Computer Systems Analyst category if the role aligns with that classification.
Which cities in Illinois have the most network administrator sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the large majority of network administrator sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major hospitals, and financial institutions. Suburbs like Schaumburg, Downers Grove, and Naperville also have significant IT employer presence. Champaign-Urbana is a secondary hub, anchored by the University of Illinois and affiliated tech companies.
How to find network administrator visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters network administrator jobs specifically to employers in Illinois who have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from manually researching each company's immigration track record. You can search by role and state to surface relevant openings across Chicago, Schaumburg, and other Illinois metros. This is particularly useful for H-1B candidates who need to identify sponsors well before the annual registration window opens.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for network administrator sponsorship roles?
Illinois employers must pay H-1B workers the prevailing wage for network administrator roles in the relevant metropolitan area, as determined by Department of Labor wage surveys. Chicago's prevailing wage levels are generally higher than those in downstate Illinois, which affects which employers find sponsorship cost-effective. Illinois also has a strong university and research hospital sector, which offers cap-exempt H-1B pathways not available at standard commercial employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored network administrator jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
