ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training and experience may include:
- Daily care, observation, and handling of pigs
- Gilt selection and development
- Breeding, gestation, and farrowing activities
- Piglet care and wean-finish production
- Animal health, nutrition, and animal welfare practices
- Participation in farm and animal welfare audits
- Exposure to producer relations and other EFI business departments
- Completion of an individualized internship project
- Participation in one-on-one mentoring and networking opportunities with industry professionals
- Following all company safety, biosecurity, animal welfare, and confidentiality expectations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a degree in animal science, agriculture, veterinary technology, agribusiness, or a related field
- Interest in pursuing a career in the pork production industry
- Willingness to work in a livestock-production environment and follow biosecurity procedures
- Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and communicate effectively with team members
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work a schedule that may include early mornings, weekends, and travel between company locations
