Which agriculture companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio-based agribusiness employers that have historically supported CPT arrangements include Scotts Miracle-Gro (headquartered in Marysville), Corteva Agriscience, and large food processing operations in the Toledo and Columbus areas. University-affiliated research centers, including Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, also regularly host F-1 CPT students in research and field roles. Availability depends on each employer's academic partnership and DSO approval at your specific institution.
Which cities in Ohio have the most agriculture F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is the most active city, anchored by Ohio State University and affiliated agribusiness networks. Marysville and the northwest Ohio corridor, including Findlay and Defiance, concentrate grain production, seed research, and agrichemical operations. Wooster hosts the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, which is a notable source of CPT-eligible research positions. Regional food processing hubs near Toledo and Dayton also post internship roles suited to F-1 CPT students.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for CPT must be integral to or directly related to your enrolled degree program. In agriculture, this commonly includes agronomy research assistantships, crop science internships, agricultural data analysis positions, food science quality assurance roles, and environmental science field work. Hands-on farm labor positions without an academic connection typically do not qualify. Your Designated School Official (DSO) must authorize CPT before you begin any work, and the role must align with your major field of study.
How do I find agriculture F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for agriculture F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio, with listings filtered specifically by visa type and state so you are not sorting through roles that do not support international students. Beyond the platform, connect with your university's career center and the DSO office, as Ohio institutions often maintain employer relationships with local agribusinesses. Applying early in the semester is important because CPT authorization requires processing time before your start date.
Are there any Ohio-specific or agriculture-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Ohio's agriculture sector is heavily research-driven, meaning many CPT opportunities are tied to university partnerships rather than standalone corporate internship programs. Because CPT authorization must be processed by your DSO and is school-specific, students at Ohio State, Ohio University, or other Ohio institutions need to confirm that a prospective employer's offer letter meets their school's CPT documentation requirements before accepting. Some positions in regulated areas like pesticide application may also carry state licensing requirements that are separate from your visa authorization.
