Which automotive companies in Ohio sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville is one of Ohio's largest automotive employers and participates in co-op programs that accommodate CPT students. Tier 1 suppliers such as Magna, Faurecia, and Schaeffler have Ohio facilities that have historically worked with university co-op offices to bring on F-1 students. CPT authorization requires a formal agreement between the employer and your DSO, so eligibility varies by program and employer.
Which cities in Ohio have the most automotive F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Toledo has a strong concentration of automotive suppliers and assembly operations, making it one of the more active markets for CPT roles. Columbus and Marysville attract students through Honda's manufacturing campus and its supplier base. Dayton and the surrounding region also hosts a number of powertrain and electronics suppliers. Proximity to major university engineering programs in these areas helps employers build consistent CPT pipelines.
How do I find automotive F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students searching for visa-friendly roles. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface automotive F-1 CPT jobs in Ohio directly, without sorting through listings that don't accommodate international students. Beyond Migrate Mate, your university's DSO and career center often maintain relationships with Ohio automotive employers who have sponsored CPT students before.
What types of automotive roles in Ohio typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
CPT-eligible roles must be an integral part of your degree program, so positions in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, and quality assurance tend to qualify well for students in related fields. Ohio automotive employers frequently recruit for co-op rotations in these areas. Your DSO must approve each placement, so the role's relevance to your declared major is the determining factor, not the job title alone.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the automotive industry?
Ohio's heavy reliance on co-op models, particularly through programs at Ohio State, University of Toledo, and Kettering University, means many automotive employers in the state are already familiar with CPT paperwork and DSO coordination. However, some facilities involve defense-related contracts or export-controlled technology, which can create additional eligibility considerations for international students. Confirm with your DSO and the employer's HR team before accepting any offer.
