Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for finance business partners?
Principal Financial Group and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Des Moines have sponsored H-1B visas for finance and FP&A roles. Nationwide's regional operations and John Deere's finance functions in the Quad Cities corridor also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for business partner and financial analyst positions. Sponsorship frequency varies by business cycle and headcount, so checking current LCA filings is the most reliable way to verify activity.
Which visa types are most common for finance business partner roles in Iowa?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for finance business partners in Iowa, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the accountant category if their duties align. Those with extraordinary achievement in finance may explore the O-1 visa, though that classification is less common for business partnering roles.
Which cities in Iowa have the most finance business partner sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the large majority of finance business partner sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance carriers, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters. Cedar Rapids supports finance roles tied to manufacturing companies including Quaker Oats and Transamerica's legacy operations. Ames sees some activity through Iowa State University-affiliated organizations and agricultural finance companies. Outside these three cities, sponsored finance business partner openings are uncommon.
How to find finance business partner visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse finance business partner roles in Iowa without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to surface active openings at Iowa employers who have a history of sponsoring international candidates. Checking Migrate Mate regularly is worthwhile because sponsored finance roles in Iowa move quickly given the smaller overall hiring volume compared to coastal markets.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for finance business partner visa sponsorship?
Iowa employers must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirement for the Des Moines or Cedar Rapids metropolitan area when filing an LCA, and those wages differ from national averages. Iowa's finance sector skews heavily toward insurance and agricultural finance, meaning candidates with experience in those sub-sectors are better positioned than those with pure technology or investment banking backgrounds. Iowa State University and the University of Iowa produce domestic finance graduates, so sponsored roles tend to require specialized experience that local pipelines don't fully cover.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance business partner jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
