Which companies sponsor visas for HR generalists in Iowa?
Large employers in Iowa with established HR departments and a history of visa sponsorship include Principal Financial Group, UnityPoint Health, Mercy Medical Center, Collins Aerospace, and the University of Iowa. Insurance, healthcare, and manufacturing firms tend to have the HR headcount and legal infrastructure needed to support H-1B petitions for generalist roles, which require demonstrating a specialty occupation nexus.
Which visa types are most common for HR generalist roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for HR generalists in Iowa. Qualifying typically requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field, and the role must meet the specialty occupation standard. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain HR classifications. The O-1 is rarely applicable for generalist-level HR work.
Which cities in Iowa have the most HR generalist sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the largest share of HR generalist sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance headquarters, financial services firms, and regional hospital networks. Cedar Rapids and Iowa City also generate consistent demand, with Iowa City's University of Iowa serving as a significant employer of HR professionals who may require visa support.
How to find hr generalist visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse HR generalist openings in Iowa without sorting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. You can filter by state and role to surface relevant opportunities at Iowa-based companies in healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services that have sponsored HR positions.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for HR generalists seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's HR job market skews toward industries like insurance, agribusiness, and healthcare, so candidates with HR experience in those sectors may find stronger alignment with local employer needs. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University also create a pipeline of HR roles tied to academic institutions, which are cap-exempt for H-1B purposes and can offer an alternative sponsorship path for qualifying positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hr generalist jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
