Which companies sponsor visas for AI engineers in Kansas?
The most active visa sponsors for AI engineers in Kansas include Garmin in Olathe, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro, and aerospace firms like Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita. Larger enterprise technology contractors operating in the state have also filed H-1B petitions for AI and machine learning roles, particularly in defense-adjacent and healthcare data applications.
Which visa types are most common for AI engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most commonly sponsored visa for AI engineers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A. Australians may also find E-3 visa eligibility with Kansas-based employers, though sponsoring activity for that category is far less common.
Which cities in Kansas have the most AI engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, particularly Olathe, Overland Park, and Lenexa on the Kansas side, concentrates the majority of AI engineering sponsorship activity in the state. Wichita is a secondary hub, driven by aerospace and manufacturing technology firms. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas, occasionally produces employer partnerships that lead to sponsored roles for graduates.
How to find ai engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters AI engineer roles in Kansas by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from manually vetting employers. The platform focuses on positions where companies have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which is especially useful in a mid-sized market like Kansas where active sponsors can be harder to identify than in larger tech hubs.
Are there any state-specific considerations for AI engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-1B AI engineers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific metro area, which differ between the Kansas City metro and Wichita. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce a pipeline of AI talent that some regional employers are already familiar with sponsoring, making graduate-level candidates from those institutions a recognized profile for Kansas-based hiring managers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
