Which companies sponsor visas for construction project managers in Kansas?
Large general contractors and engineering firms with active Kansas operations are the most consistent sponsors. Companies like Burns & McDonnell, based in the Kansas City metro, and national firms such as Turner Construction and Kiewit have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for project management roles. Infrastructure-focused firms working on highway, utility, and industrial projects across the state also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as repeat sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for construction project manager roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction project managers in Kansas, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the engineer category if their degree and duties align. The O-1 visa is rarely applicable for this role. Employer willingness and role classification both affect which visa type is pursued.
Which cities in Kansas have the most construction project manager sponsorship jobs?
Wichita and the Kansas City metro area, including Overland Park and Lenexa, concentrate the majority of construction project manager opportunities in Kansas. Wichita sees demand tied to aerospace facility construction and commercial development. The Kansas City corridor benefits from cross-state infrastructure projects and corporate campus builds. Topeka, as the state capital, generates periodic public-sector and healthcare construction activity that requires experienced project managers.

You can browse active listings from employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for project management positions. Pairing Migrate Mate with research into Kansas contractors active in infrastructure and commercial sectors helps you target outreach effectively.
Are there state-specific considerations for construction project managers seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas follows federal prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program, meaning sponsoring employers must pay the Department of Labor-determined wage for the role's location and level. Kansas has no state-level visa or licensing requirement specific to immigration, but construction project managers may need a Professional Engineer license or LEED credentials depending on the employer and project type. Aerospace and energy-sector projects in Kansas can influence which specializations employers prioritize when hiring internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project manager jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
